College Basketball 2021-2022 Thread

MVC with 4 conference tourney games today.
Illinois State @ Northern Iowa
Bradley @ Loyola Chicago (Is Loyola the school that the nun follows and gets shown on the screen all the time?)
Valparaiso @ Missouri State
Southern Illinois @ Drake

OVC has Murray State (28-2) taking on Southeast Missouri State in Evansville. The Redhawks played yesterday and beat Tennessee State handily. These two teams just played each other about 6 days ago with the Racers winning 70-68. Seems soon, but tomorrow this conference tourney crowns it's champ. The other semi has Morehead State vs Belmont.

Murray State is also leaving for the MVC, starting next year I believe?

Northern Iowa beats Illinois State 78-65 in the MVC tourney.
(I was incorrect about where the games are at. Thought this round they were on the higher seeded court. They are in St Louis.)
Loyola beats Bradley 66-50

Loyola, Northern Iowa, MO State, and Drake (assuming no late collapse) all move on to the semifinals. Sets up perfectly for some fun games Sat/Sunday. Drake did lose their best 3pt shooter / perimeter defender in DJ Wilkins for the season with a torn ACL the other night. 4th straight season they’ve lost an important piece heading into the postseason.

Big Ten games today.
Indiana @ Purdue

Think a total of 106 games today. Will probably be some great ones.

After that mid season slump where they lost 5 of 6, Arkansas has been on a tear. 14 out of 15?!
Big one today when they are @ Tennessee.
Of course the Duke and NC game.
Couple of posters on here love the Mountain West games and a couple of good ones today.
Boise State @ Colorado State and San Diego State @ Nevada
Plethora of good games today.

Some conference tourney games
Longwood, with a remarkable season, had to go into OT yesterday to advance in the Big South tourney. They get South Carolina Upstate today.
Texas State starts it's attempted march through the Sunbelt tourney today vs the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.
Liberty of the A-Sun had a 5 point win yesterday to keep their tourney hopes going. Tougher draw today with Bellarmine.
The MVC tournament was mentioned above by Drake University Gopher and the impact of them by Spotted Muskie.
NEC semis are today with Bryant vs Mount St Marys and Wagner against Long Island.
OVC final has Murray State playing Morehead State. (See above post) Was a close game last time they played with Murray State coming out on top 57-53.
Summit starts their tourney with South Dakota State getting Omaha. (No byes in the Summit tourney)
WCC tourney opponents today are San Francisco and BYU

Edit: Longwood in some early trouble in their game with SC Upstate. Longwood advances.
Tennessee thumping the Razorbacks at the moment.
Texas State losing by 6 to Louisiana at the half. Went about 8 minutes without a FG to give up the lead. Texas State, conference winner, loses in the tournament.

Boise St at CSU tonite. Revenge game for BSU as CSU beat them at home earlier. Roddy is fun to watch.

Alabama-LSU a good one. Shouldn’t have gone to OT though. LSU was up 2, the refs missed a bad travel on Alabama, the LSU fouls nowhere near the basket a few seconds later with about 12 seconds left in regulation. Bama hits both free throws, game now in OT.

Indiana just got a T for a lot less trash talking than Maryland was doing the other night.

ESPN lauding up the adoration for Mike “The Rat” Krzyzewski. Can UNC spoil his idol party? Stay tuned.

Seton Hall Creighton looks to be a good game. Tall dude from Creighton altering shots as tall dudes often do.

Indiana/Purdue coming down to the wire. Boilermakers with a one point lead with five minutes to go. This game could be the tilt between the Hoosiers making or missing the tournament.
Gotta believe they have to win a few in the tournament now.

North Texas loses, most likely need to win conference championship to get in

Conference champ UNI goes down to Loyola Chicago 66-43
In the other semi, Drake has lost a couple to Missouri State during the season, first one by 5 and second by 4. They are going to tip off now.
Interestingly, Drake beat Loyola twice during the regular season, but who knows this time of year?

Iowa State only 4 points in first 12 minutes against Baylor.
Even the Gophers could do better than that.

And of course a 25-10 run to end the half, cutting the lead down to 10. Now THAT is Gopher basketball.

Gabe with 12 straight for the Cyclones as they battle their way back

Drake in foul trouble with a couple starters on the bench. 55-52 over Missouri State with 8 minutes left.
