Reusse takes shots at Heather Fleck, "cowardly folks at Gopher Hole"

LOL. Loblaw searches how many times someone uses the term "barrister," but it's the someone who is obsessed.
You think using a search engine is more obsessive than constantly following someone around and commenting on their profession? LOL.

Swing and a miss dumb dumb.

Damn, considering how few teams outside of Ohio State have won a Big Ten title in the last decade, that's a heavy requirement for adoration. Maybe I/some others fall in love easily? 😍
You guys are on the same side, and essentially doing nothing other than arguing over the definition of adoration and/or the appropriateness of meeting that threshold.

Hey, it's better than both lamenting a crap team!

So you spent half an hour of your life searching for how many times I used the word "barrister," barrister.

Sheesh.
They don't call him "lonely in Austin" Bob, for no reason!

You must have accidentally cut it off prematurely. Here you go ". . . constantly following someone around and commenting on their profession".

So like, if I replied to every one of your posts with something like "USAF, who collects disability checks, yadda yadda yadda". That would be obsessive, yes.

You do this with me too though. You and JamJam are obsessed with my job. Honestly, I sometimes forget that you're two different people. You guys should move in together, your combined disability payments might be able to get you an apartment with balcony!!!

Rich prick attorney who berates people he feels are "beneath him". Never heard that one before

It actually came up on a Twins message boards, someone linked the article and I didn't click into it.

Fascinating stuff huh?

No one cares what you think. No one has ever cared what you think. That's why you're miserable.
I'm going to opine that you care, a lot, barrister.

You appear to be much like Barreiro. The badgers and Hawkeyes have been better than the gophers over the years. Well, no shit Einstein.

What's next, the Vikings have never won the Super Bowl?

also, Ferentz has won 62% of his games at Iowa. Fleck has won 58% of his games at Minnesota. Flecks will go up as his tenure has been short and his first year was impossible. I've never understood the Ferentz love. He's ok, but nothing special.
It's simple win a Rose Bowl or B1G title, or division. There is another step this program needs to take to arrive. Ferentz and WI have done those things. That is what the next step should be.

If we look at it that way, WI has a much better B1G record. It's not close.

I'm not down on PJ at all. He's a good coach doing good things here on and off the field. I'm glad they extended him. It's too early to elevate him to greatness. The record doesn't warrant it.
Well, that's the other thing. That's a strawman. Again it's what you and Reusse want to see. I don't see many people elevating him to greatness. In fact, many were extremely upset and critical often this year.

I don't think he's ever won a rose bowl or a Big 10 title since the inception of east/west. He has won the division a couple of times.

Hell, he's been there going on 25 years and the only real competition for the west has been Wisconsin. Granted that's only been going for something like 10 or 11 years.

He also gave his turkey of the year this year to a guy for getting injured. He's a shit human being and he hates himself. It's why he is killing himself with food.
I thought he got rid of it. Who did he pick this year?

If Fleck does for the next 20 years at MN what Ferentz has done for the past 20 years at IA, we should be very, very happy. They will put up statues and name stuff after Fleck here if he does that.

Ferentz has been bowl eligible in 19 of the past 20 years, ten of his bowl appearances have come on New Year's Day, he's been to a Rose Bowl, two Orange Bowls, finished in the National AP and Coaches Top Ten five times (25% of the time), won two Big Ten titles, two Big Ten West division titles, was three inches from making the playoffs and is 22-5 in his last 27 trophy games against MN, NEB, and WIS.

He is tied with Penn State, Wisconsin, Auburn, Florida State, and Virginia Tech with 5 Top Ten finishes in the past 20 years. He has 63 wins since 2015, that is #9 in the country.

If someone offered that for the next 20 years as a Gopher fan, I'm all in.

Sorry, say what you want about Ferentz, but he has given Hawkeye fans something I would love to experience here. I would say he is more than ok, and probably a little underappreciated. It is not easy to have that kind of sustained success in a state like Iowa.

Ferentz has neither won a Rose Bowl nor an outright B10 championship.

He's been to 6 Outback bowls, 2 Orange bowls and has gone 8-0 in conference play twice. Can't be outright champ without a championship game when two teams go 8-0.

So YOU are an Iowa fan.

I knew it!

Yeah, I am. If someone wrote an article about how Mo Ibrahim or Trey Potts were the biggest losers of the year because they were injured, I wouldn't have to read the article to know that person is a POS. Would you?

I thought he gave a guy turkey of the year for being injured. It turns out he nominated a guy for turkey of the year because he was injured. Did I miss something by not reading it? Please enlighten me.
Is anything he wrote in the article untrue? Buxton has been injured a lot during his career. It’s sad that at the age of 27 we are still wondering if he can complete an entire mlb season. He wrote no the nothing about Ibrahim or Potts so have no idea how that is analogous to the turkey of the year. He was questioning Buxtons want to come back and play.

you didn’t miss anything but you do not have the right to criticize it if you don’t read it.

Say what you want about injuries, but Buxton has busted his ass every time he takes the field, and constantly puts his body in danger with his effort. That stuff jeopardizes his ability to make money, not to mention his health. For Reusse to take a dig at a guy for getting injured is garbage, but typical of Reusse. Questioning Buxton's desire to play is trash, and so is Reusse.

Did Reusse write the same stuff about Mauer and Morneau with all their injuries? I'm guessing not.

I actually do have the right to criticize things that I don't read.

As to this point "he wrote no the nothing about Ibrahim or Potts so have no idea how that is analogous to the turkey of the year." You really don't know why I would bring up Mo or Potts? C'mon, don't go through this whole thing where you pretend to not understand the comparison to avoid the discussion. So I'll guess I'll break down something we both already know.
  • Buxton had injury issues which led to Fat Pat nominating him as Turkey of the Year. I think that's incredibly sh!tty to rag on someone for being injured.
  • Mo and Trey Potts also missed most of 2021, Potts has never completed a full season. Mo has missed some time in 2-3 years.
  • Hypothetically, if Fat Pat nominated them for Turkey of the Year because they were injured, would you think that is crappy thing to do?
As to the Buxton point which I am only getting from you. He was questioning whether Buxton wanted to come back and play? LOL. That's not only sh!tty, that's ridiculously stupid. He might be able to make those kinds of arguments for a guy who signed a huge contract but Buxton missed significant time in an incredibly important year for his contract. It probably cost him $100 million. LOL. Fat Pat thinks Buxton walked away for 9 figures because he didn't feel like playing basketball? Let me guess, he only makes horrific takes to troll us and get clicks?

Who in the hell cares about Button, this is a FOOTBALL web sight. Go elsewhere if you want to talk baseball.

The difference is Buxton has a HISTORY of injuries Potts and Mo do not. Plus they are both kids not professional players making millions of dollars. Yes, had he nominated two college players as turkey of the years due to injuries that would be been in poor taste. The thing is he didn’t and your hypothetical between those two and Buxton is not even close to the same.

You also seem very angry over an article that you didn’t read and should have no impact on your life.

I'm glad you chose to actually argue that my comparison is not apt rather than pretend to not know where it comes from. Mo does have injury history. He missed 3 full games as a FR (and portions of others), he missed almost the entire season in 2021, and missed portions of games in 2019. He absolutely has had injury issues.

So your point is that a professional athlete is a turkey if they get injured but that same analysis of a college kid would be in poor taste? LOL. Kind of sounds like you're irrationally defending someone you like.

It doesn't make me angry. It's annoying when people like you pretend to not understand a simple point but Fat Pat's articles don't make me angry. He is a POS for reasons that I've stated. Acknowledging that someone was a POS doesn't make me angry.

As to the point about how idiotic his take is that someone would CHOOSE not to play in a season where he would know doing so would cost him 9 figures. That made me laugh. Not only is he a POS but he is also incredibly stupid. That's a horrific take.

You're confusing acknowledging things are bad or dumb with anger. Then again, you know this, but again, you're pretending to be obtuse.

23 years........meh

Orange bowl means little now. Went to a couple of rose bowls, and got blown out.

Again, Meh!

Look all you need to know is that Reusse, and much of "the media" adhere to a disruptor credo or an agitation credo, if you will. They will tell you that a journalists job is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. What they won't tell you is how they define "afflicted" and "comfortable". Is it a surface glance? What biases do the have in defining those groups? It's kind of like the EOAA and their scope of adjudication regarding student conduct.

23 years and 5 seasons of losing Big Ten Records. two were the first 2 seasons.
Orange Bowls were BCS games, one was because the Rose Bowl had a Semi-Final Game.

Hope we can at least boast that in 18 years. Through 5 years both Ferentz and Alvarez had a Big Ten Title. We've got some catching up to do.
