Kirk on Iowa fans booing injured Penn State players

Watched the replay last nite on BTN.

#17 was definitely faking injuries. That one was the most obvious.

Quite the rivalry going between the two schools.

Pretty remarkable that a year ago and some people were calling for his head. Now Ferentz looks like the leading candidate for NCOTY.
Can we give the Governor's Bell trophy for the winner of this game?

There was maybe one time where it seemed a little odd but I think the only reason it even registered is because their fans were freaking out every time a PSU player was down. Agree with Connelly though that it really makes zero sense to fake an injury to slow down one of the slowest moving teams in college football. It would be similar to doing that against us.

I could see it as a strategy against an up-tempo team that rushes to the line and doesn't make personnel changes in order to go really fast.....but against Iowa......yeah not so much.

The whole thing only came about because Iowa fans have it in their head that in other games teams faked injuries in the past.

So they started booing any injury vs PSU, even the first one.

Now they think every injury is a conspiracy. The whole thing isn't grounded in any fact at this point, it's just stuck in Iowa fan's heads and they see it everywhere.

I haven't thought about our best sandwich before -- but off the cuff I'll throw Lucky 13's Monte Cristo out. One of the only places that serves them, and it is of the deep fried variety rather than a griddled Monte. On second thought I will also put out Patrick McGoverns Turkey Melt and Mancini's steak sandwich.
Lindey's 1/2 lb ground steak burger off their lunch menu. Get it with the seasoned potatoes ... un-be-lievable!

Any team that has trouble game planning against Iowa hasn't been paying attention.

They've been doing the same things at Iowa since Ferentz arrived.

PSU is just looking for excuses for not having a capable backup at QB.

Iowa beating PSU wasn't a surprise. Gophs have their number too.

Listening to Franklin cry about the loss was fun, tho. Franklin better get used to losing. I think they'll lose to tOSU, Michigan, AND MSU.

And an 8-4 record might prevent him from getting offered the USC job. He knows he'll never be Big Dog in the B1G.
I've got a memory of Saquon housing one for the win that tells me otherwise.

The fall for Iowa is going to be fast and hard. They are the same as every year.

By the way, fans in Iowa were basically booing Ferentz the past few years. The game had passed him by.........blah, blah, blah

Winning cures a lot of things.
Yep. Same thing here. the "winning" part.

The fact that we're reading so many defending PSU leads me to believe it was orchestrated.

Not so sure about the fall of Iowa, tho. That remaining schedule is pretty favorable In fact, if they're the same every year, it makes the "fast and hard" even less likely.

Last year he figured he’d take the pig and leave the timeouts. This year fans booing injured players smell a rat. It’s almost like he has outlasted all the “racist program” questions/controversy and he is near retirement so he probably feels like he can say whatever he wants.

I do find it very strange that the same fans that wave at sick children are fine with booing injured college kids minutes later.
Because Iowa football fans are are hypocrites, schizophrenic, bipolar, and just plain old assholes.

Couple guys never returned to the game.

Others were out for several series.

Iowa fans have a persecution complex over fake injuries.

And others jogged off the field and missed a play or 2.

#1 for PSU did it 3 times against Wisconsin in one game.

The fans booing was lame as hell. I think it was more about Iowa's offense struggling so badly and once they did hit a decent gain it always seemed to happen again. Fake or not it was a bad look.

But as somebody else mentioned, Kirk has been getting beat up in the national media for the last decade and he appears to be in "don't give a F" mode.

They booed even the first guy injured before he even got up....

They weren't evaulating the results ... the folks booing are just assholes.

They were absolutely booing the injured players. I just think it stems from Iowa sucking at offense, particularly in that game. They were looking for something to boo when Iowa offense was on the field and the PSU injuries provided it.

They weren't booing PSU's injured offensive players. Just the guys on D.

PSU's QB jogged off the field after he took a big hit. He didn't lay on the field like a soccer player. It is kinda strange when the guy with possible broken ribs can make it to the sideline while guys on D are stopping the game are laying on the field and then 2 plays later are back in the game.

This seems like a reasonable view.

They boo injured players on the field.

They then turn around and wave at the hospital kids.

It's kind of ironic. Maybe the hospital wave is fake.

I've always disliked Wisconsin fans for their arrogance, but Iowa fans are definitely the most crude in the Big Ten though.

Those are not sick kids.

They are prisoners being held at a soul harvesting center, and after they suck out their souls, they offer them up to AIRBHG.

Man when you get Pitt backing Penn State.... you gotta be way wrong.

FWIW- Iowa has had 2 games during the Ferentz era where they suspected the other team of faking injuries, the first was MSU when Narduzzi was the D Coordinator, the second was the Saturday.

They see fans of fast-paced teams boo the opposition faking injuries, so they think they will be cool and do the same, but they aren't smart enough to know that their situation is different. They also booed whenever the ball blew off the tee on kickoffs. They are just idiots all around.

Yes without question. 2 were legitimate and other 3/4 were used to stop momentum. Didn’t surprise me that Franklin denied it. Funny how quickly those DT and LBS returned after being helped off the field. Anything to win. Big jerk.
Fan intuition usually spot on, not always, but usually. Every fan base does it, not an IOWA thing, as much as MN fans want it to be.

Booing fake injuries? Justified

Coaches denying? Typical, can’t trust what they say, just can’t. They’d face league discipline if they were honest and said they faked injuries.
