Kirk on Iowa fans booing injured Penn State players

Smelled a rat?

Unusual amount of athletic trainers and medical personnel in the stands for Iowa games. Strange since I never see the intellect in their fans when they travel here.

Anyone that watched the game think Penn states injuries were fake?

Last year he figured he’d take the pig and leave the timeouts. This year fans booing injured players smell a rat. It’s almost like he has outlasted all the “racist program” questions/controversy and he is near retirement so he probably feels like he can say whatever he wants.

I do find it very strange that the same fans that wave at sick children are fine with booing injured college kids minutes later.

You're expecting too much from them.

Yes. Heck he doesn't even care about his own players. https://abcnews.go.com/Health/unive...spitalized-muscle-condition/story?id=12780810

I'm no Iowa fan.
Watched the game and thought that injuries were occurring when Iowa had momentum. I'm not sure Gopher fans would have reacted any differently.
Yeah, I agree. I thought some of the injuries were fishy. I'm also impatient, so that might have skewed by opinion.

Yes without question. 2 were legitimate and other 3/4 were used to stop momentum. Didn’t surprise me that Franklin denied it. Funny how quickly those DT and LBS returned after being helped off the field. Anything to win. Big jerk.

Yeah, I don't mind him doing it, it's annoying but part of the game. But to be offended that you got booed over people accurately telling you you're full of sh!t is the most 2021 thing ever.

Watched the replay last nite on BTN.

#17 was definitely faking injuries. That one was the most obvious.

Quite the rivalry going between the two schools.

Pretty remarkable that a year ago and some people were calling for his head. Now Ferentz looks like the leading candidate for NCOTY.

I really hate Iowa, but I do like that they crush Penn State's dreams about ever 5 years or so. It's their only redeeming quality.

Oh, and Made-Rite's suck.

Couple guys never returned to the game.

Others were out for several series.

Iowa fans have a persecution complex over fake injuries.
Jealousy appears to have consumed you.

Gophers win in November and we won't care about Iowa again.

Not a Maid-Rite fan myself but Mrs. Billd's home town has one of the originals so I've learned to tolerate it on trips to Cedar Falls.

Now this week's opponent has the Runsa sandwich and not quite sure what the excitement is about. Had some pasties up on The Range and they are pretty good without the rutabagas.

And yes, some of those Penn State injuries were suspect timing-wise. Fans were pre-disposed to boo so that's just I-O-W-A lack of hospitality showing through.

I had my first Runza on the way to Colorado and I thought they were great. I also had a Kraut burger in eastern Colorado and I throughout enjoyed them as well. I love pasties so it was right in my wheelhouse. PSA, best pasty I've ever had was Rigoni's bakery in Ironwood MI.

On the topic of injuries -- I agree with hawkeyes that some seemed sketchy -- but they did idiotically boo when Morgan went down in '19 since we then had to put in a freshman to try and win the game.

The Runza is okay, but nothing too special to me. The Pasties are good. I worked in Pittsburgh on and off for years, and I actually think the most overrated local sandwich is from Primanti Brothers in PGH. It's the one with french fries on it. The fresh bread cannot withstand the coleslaw and the fries, so it gets incredibly soggy. I gave it two tries, I wanted to like it, but I couldn't.

For MN, I think our best sandwiches are the bahn mi from iPho and the roast beef from Clancey's in Minneapolis. It might take that hipster 45 minutes to make you a sandwich, but g'damn is it good. It's the opposite of Primanti Brothers, I wanted to hate it, but I couldn't.

I haven't thought about our best sandwich before -- but off the cuff I'll throw Lucky 13's Monte Cristo out. One of the only places that serves them, and it is of the deep fried variety rather than a griddled Monte. On second thought I will also put out Patrick McGoverns Turkey Melt and Mancini's steak sandwich.

True story.

Moved here to Minnesota from Atlanta to attend the U in 1989. Got the degree and a job and have lived here now for over 30 years. Go Gophers!

Early years on my job had me going to The Range and I'd see the signs for "pasties" here or ahead and did not think of bucket sandwiches... Was too embarrassed to actually ask anyone why the fixation on "cover attachments" for breasts along the main highways in Northern Minnesota?

Needless to say once I learned felt pretty dumb. Also wondered why there were flat top mountains on The Range too. Figured that one out eventually also.

All good choices. I've never had the Monte Cristo, I don't think Lucky 13's was really big before I left the cities, but I've heard good things.

Iowa beating PSU wasn't a surprise. Gophs have their number too.

Listening to Franklin cry about the loss was fun, tho. Franklin better get used to losing. I think they'll lose to tOSU, Michigan, AND MSU.

And an 8-4 record might prevent him from getting offered the USC job. He knows he'll never be Big Dog in the B1G.

The fall for Iowa is going to be fast and hard. They are the same as every year.

By the way, fans in Iowa were basically booing Ferentz the past few years. The game had passed him by.........blah, blah, blah

Winning cures a lot of things.
