Gophers open as a 3 point dog

All the people hyping Nebraska are going to have to reconcile that they’re only 3 point favorites against a team that lost to bowling green

Will be interesting to see how Big Red travels for this one. Sections 211 and 212 have a lot of "scalped" seats in them. OH-IO State traveled pretty well.

I’m thinking it’ll get higher as $ comes in on NE.

Well, we are playing against a team that lost to Illinois.

Yup. Which speaks to my point these are both mediocre teams.
The people who keep saying Nebraska is much better than their record are wrong. Nebraska is exactly their record. A decent team that can’t get it done against good teams. What does that make you? Mediocre.

Minnesota has the best win of the two of them and the worst loss. Making them also mediocre

I'll be impressed by not yawn at? Nebraska when they actually win games against teams with a pulse half a pulse. There are no quality losses when you lose more than you win.

Yup. Two mediocre teams playing next Saturday.
One team that is inconsistent.
One team that consistently loses to anyone good but does it in a pretty way

I've noticed you really like the word mediocre.

You're not Dan Barreiro, are you? I only ask because I'm pretty sure that's Dan's favorite word.

Only like the word to describe teams 5-12 of the big ten.
I still am not sold on Michigan state

I hear you. Maybe I shouldn't say this out loud, but I think Iowa is due for a stumble. And I don't think Michigan resembles the dominant Wolverines of old, at least not yet. Penn State is good, but hardly invincible. Heck, nobody is invincible. Just ask Alabama.

To my eyes, of the top tier B1G teams only Ohio State looks like the same old Ohio State. Tops in talent, and the coaching staff appears to be as good as any. They didn't skip a beat when Urban left.

they would be at least a 2 TD underdog to Akron then

I bet on the Gophers. I think home cookin, a healthy WR room and 2 weeks to prepare make the difference.

I think I saw that they lost to the Gophers 30-0.
Yeah, and to 2 other unranked teams by over 20 points as well. They beat Northern Colorado quite easily tho. My point is the CO drubbing isn’t really what we thought it was at the time.

All I’m saying is Nebraska has been playing it’s best football (the last 4 weeks) since Frost got there. They’ve been playing pretty good, and if we beat them we’ll have played pretty good.

To repeat, the line is mostly set by the Sagarin rankings then changes as the bets come in to get the ideal situation for the betting sites, a 50/50 distribution of bets, so the sites take all of the cut per bet.
Given the absence of a known running back for MN, the experienced defensive front for NE, the vulnerable DBs for MN and NE, and the fact the Martinez is far better than Morgan I would take NE at -3.

Neither team has a W against a top 25 team. Plus bad losses to BG and Illini. IMO, thus game is a toss up and I give the edge to NE. The corn dogs luck has been telling and they are due to shed the horse shoe that has been following them like a bad dream. Throw out the bad turnovers and NE has been the better team overall. Martinez can be scary good.

Minnesota trying to reclaim magic of 2019 vs Neb trying to reclaim magic of 1980's - Advantage MN
QB in 2021 - Advantage Neb
Competition in 2021 - Neb MI, OK and MN - OSU, CO - Push

Bottom line I think this games boils down to can MN be mentally prepared for this game? Think of everything they have been through in the last 4 months.

QB - Loses father to cancer
Star RB - devastating injury and lost for year.
Backup RB - devastating injury - potentially life-threatening and defiantly enough to hospitalize someone for six days.

I think if MN comes out ready to play and OC has a game plan that has Morgan passing the ball 50% of the time we win. However, if we come out flat I don't think we recover. I think this team is emotionally on the edge and doesn't have a playmaker who can raise everyone up. I am hoping our coaches will come up with a game plan to take over this game, but will be interesting to see what they come out with. I think the first 10 minutes will be very telling.

I agree I don’t think Iowa goes unbeaten

A team that doesn’t turn it over can beat them

Certainly hope that quite a bit of the time in those two weeks was spent on plays to open up the offense.

Only question with your post… push in competition? Oklahoma for them and Ohio State for us could be a push, but comparing Colorado to Michigan? That is not a push.
