Gophers should play in U.S Bank Stadium.

How about a Northern Tier Destination Bowl Game? I have mixed feelings about the Gophers playing at the US Bank Stadium. I guess it will depend on what game and when.

When an SEC team comes, I'd like to extend our northern hospitality and let them play in the Bank in a December playoff game.
Ha, perfect....I can envision the Gophers finally making the CFP after the expansion and Minnesota is set to host a southern team in the first round. You can be assured the powers that be would move that game to US Bank to protect some sec opponent from being a little cold.

I will take a pass on this idea, with extreme prejudice. Including bad weather days.

Hard no on playing indoors at US Bank unless it's for the B1G championship or a playoff/bowl game. US Bank stadium is just...not that great IMHO. It's not a Wrigley Field/Lambeau/Mile High type where it's a cool outdoor stadium in its own right.

On the Bowl Game idea - if the CFP goes to the 12-game playoff system, I believe that part of the fallout would mean eliminating some of the minor bowl games. the 'new' playoff games would basically replace some bowl games on the schedule.

So for US Bank to get a Bowl Game, it would have to be very well-funded - enough to move up the Bowl Game pecking order. Or somehow convince an existing bowl game to relocate to MN.

It would this one. Same thing with the Las Vegas bowl, which upgraded bigly with the new Raiders stadium and PAC vs Big Ten tie-ins.

Now just convince people to travel to Minneapolis in Dec, and presto!

The 12-team playoff proposal will actually create the need for at least two new bowl games (because 4 teams would be playing in two existing New Years six bowls).

But the other consequence of an expanded playoff, with 6 conference champions guaranteed a spot, will be that additional teams (and maybe entire conferences) will likely chose to transition to FBS so they have an opportunity to pursue that new highly-rewarding Group of 5 playoff spot.

That all means there are probably at least another 3-8 new bowl games coming if playoffs expands. And with the San Fran bowl cancelled we are starting at -1.

But that's also four fewer teams that would have needed to find a bowl game in the current system.

So you wouldn't want to see an "away" non-conference game for the Gophers played at U.S. Bank Stadium? You do understand this wouldn't drop a game from Huntington Bank Stadium lineup, right? Curious about your logic on that. What are your thoughts puppies?
Unless the Gophers have a couple more 11+ win seasons can't see a special game being scheduled here. Though there's a chance if the opponent can be offered REALLY big money to play here.

That said the Gopher are hosting the following teams already:

9/17/22 Colorado
9/7/24 North Carolina
9/16/28 California

None will bring a lot of fans so yeah, wouldn't mind them being at US Bank. There aren't a whole bunch of seats available at Huntington Bank Stadium when Power Conference teams are in town so yeah, wouldn't mind a chance for another 16K or so to see the Gophers.

Not a burning desire but it would be nice.

Nope. The slow traffic-jammed route through a pre-game rocking frat row eliminates all thoughts of playing in another sterile NFL domed stadium. That sucks donkey-dongs in comparison.
HAHA. You said donkey-dongs. I'm not mature sometimes.

Cool idea, but the the grandparents on this board won't like it, kinda like the black jerseys.
The grandparents on this board have already watched many off campus games at that very site, and fought very hard to make it end.
