Never again..

Wait, so this team isn’t the best team in the last 50 years of gopher football?
Got it.

yeah you are probably right

bUt I WAnT tHe tEAm tO Be tHE BeSt iN fIFty yEaRS eVERY yEaR!!!

This team could go 4-2 in the West and be 6-6. I’ve given up predictions as every week is a completely different match up and no two teams match up like they will against the gophers. Enjoy the season.

Is there a large vibrant Gopher community outside of this board? Could have fooled me. I've been living in this state for close to 20 years now and I'm sure I can count the number of people (outside of this board) on one hand who have brought up the Gophers to me in a conversation. That's a pretty striking difference to what you'll encounter living in eastern Iowa.
It’s him and Pat Ruesse.

I give PJ a break over last year with covid, but this year we should not have so many struggles. The hardest position to get up to speed is QB so that will be the next excuse after Morgan is gone. I hope the team can come together and make a run this year. But, that would mean that our performance against Miami was a fluke and our new normal. I am hoping that was the case.

If we had lost to SDSU or GSU (one not both), and lost to Penn St at home, then 2019 would've been 8-4 in the regular season instead of 10-2.

I think that's the type of season we're in for, unless we manage to beat Wisc or Iowa this year, which is still on the table. You never know.

Not amazing, but not doom and gloom.

Did Fleck say he wants to be the most empathetic coach in college football? Or most pathetic? I don’t remember

Fleck lives and dies by his coordinators and he hasn't made great choices so far. he'll get a long leash, but he needs to make some hard decisions
How can you blame the defense? This was on an offense with a 4 year starter at QB and a deep, experienced line that played horribly.

That post was after the Miami game where the defense let them back in the third quarter. This game was definitely the offense's fault

Both coordinators will be in trouble if we look like the rest of season
Blaming coordinators is an awful lazy way to look at things. The team was not mentally prepared to play today, and the QB’s in a bad funk, might need a break. OL didn’t get it done. Didn’t matter what plays were called, poor execution mist of the day. As poor as they were prepared mentally, that’s on the HC.

Makes much more sense. And while PJ does a lot well he needs to be a better game coach as he proved today.

I'm not worried about pj.

But thanks for insight

Yes, mentally unprepared, but Mike Sanford has been nothing but an enigma since he’s been here. He ruined Jordan Love at Utah State and he’s ruining Tanner Morgan. Check the numbers with Love before Sanford as OC and after. It speaks for itself. You could blame Covid last year, but Morgan looked bad and to me that falls on Sanford.

Yeah.

to be honest, today doesn’t change my projection for the year.

I thought 8-9 wins going into Ohio state.
I thought 7 wins coming out of Ohio state.

still think 7.
The big ten west sucks. MN can beat any team on the schedule. Could lose to any

maybe they finish 5-3

If they finish 5-3 with losses to Iowa and Wisconsin, nothing has changed at all.

I don’t think we should be able to talk smack about other teams play until we show over a course of 5 years of utterly destroying these teams. We talked a lot of smack about Nebraska but it’s looking like we will get destroyed by them.

This team is not at the 2019 level.
I don’t think we were 30 point favorites against either of those teams. Saturday’s game was beyond pathetic and brought back memories of Jim Wacker (RIP) and Tim Brewster. When you start bringing up those names in PJ’s 5th year something is not right.
