let’s hope today is better

Dang, I remember taking my then 2 month old daughter to that game. Bringing her today too.

I was at that game. Freshman year for me. Might have even been my first Gopher game ever. The entire student section was chanting "Fire Brewster."

Figured it could only get better from there at that point.

The 9/11 of Gopher football.

I remember being at this game, the only one I traveled in for that season. My ex got us tickets to this game (and not the USC game the following week) not knowing the difference between the two opponents.

This game made every defensive breakdown game before or after it look like the '85 Bears. Most of their touchdowns could have been scored by any reasonably ambulatory member of this board. Receivers with nobody on their entire side of the field. Backs with nobody within 10-20 yards of them in any direction.

Just an unreal loss, and it was surprising how competent they were the following week against USC before tanking the rest of the year.

No wonder she's "ex". Just joking.

South Dakota QB Dante Warren responsible for 433 of South Dakota's 444 total yardage.

Didn’t they throw a simple slant play that we never defended, the whole game, or was that one of Jerry Kill’s teams?

I remember that was my fourth year in college. I was with family staying at a cabin on Lake Kabetogama. My dad, uncle and I found a resort with some TVs and watched the game and I couldn't believe what was happening. That was Brewster's fourth year, the point where a team should be on solid ground, and South Dakota carved the Gophers defense all day.

Pretty much the same story with Northern Illinois that season, too. They just ran all over Minnesota.

4th 1 and they run naked boot leg for ~35 yard TD to seal game
