2 years ago on this date AWJr broke Fresno State’s heart for the SECOND Time. Who remembers this interception in overtime?!

He is the best “playmaker” in my time watching gopher football.

huge plays
Medium plays
Plays in blowouts
Plays in close games

Just for fun...with covid 2020 season behind us...wouldn't Mr. Winfield still be eligible to play this year too as a senior?

Now on to fantasy land...what if he were on the field last Thursday...?

Man, that game was an absolute coronary waiting to happen. Back and forth, but it really looked like all hope was lost. Convert a 4th and a mile on what many would call a miracle play (we know it was skill by Morgan and CAB, but still), then it looks like FSU is going to walk in for a TD in OT...and bam, Winfield out of nowhere. IIRC, even Grimm on the call said something like, "long pass...FSU has a man out there wide open...IT'S INTERCEPTED!"

I was there as well...and from my vantage point when the ball was thrown, it looked like a
FOR SURE winning touchdown throw and then Winfield comes out of nowhere.
My wife was born in Minnesota, raised in Fresno, came back to MN for College and has been here ever since. Took along two more MN couples for the game. My wife got MANY questions about here Tshirt design. This game had been on our calendar for years, as soon as the Home and Away was scheduled. I've always been a closet Bulldog fan too. We sat at the 30 yd line, high up in the Bulldog Season Ticket section, that my wifes brother found for us...through friends. Fans were super great to us during tailgating, all through the game, UNTIL Winfield STEALS IT!
Note, the majority of our fans are together opposite us behind the Gopher sideline.

From this view, it looked like a Perfect touchdown throw until thePICK!

AND, here's a Gigapixel panorama that was taken that day too...

I remember it well. Saw it on TV. Replayed it on highlights often just to marvel at Winfield's ability to react like lightning. Also marveled at CAB and some others in that game.

Go Gophers!!
When that pass was thrown that WR looked wide open and AW Jr came out of no where on the screen, maybe live at the stadium it didn't look as dramatic, but on the screen he didn't appear until the last second, I thought we were boned at the time. Really have to appreciate players like Tyrone Carter and Antoine Winfield Jr, you usually get a guy like that once every 20 years and they usually come out of nowhere

I have watched the play probably 50 times. I am still convinced that Winfield simply materialized in the end zone just in time to make the play.

My group was way down on the other side of the stadium. I remember my Uncle saying we need a fumble, I chimed in "Or and interception", and literally the next play Winfield ended the game.

He wouldn’t have a Super Bowl ring.
Wait, you’re stating that if he was still playing football in college he would not have won a super bowl ring? I’m credulous, but that would be big news if accurate.
