I think it also illustrates that programs need to know who they are and stick with that even after a coaching change. I'm sure many Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, & Nebraska fans would love to be like Oregon with their high octane offense.
But from a recruiting standpoint and climate standpoint it...
Kirk Ferentz's record in 1 score games is actually not very good. Against Minnesota it is but against pretty much everyone else besides Nebraska, more often than not Iowa loses close games. Look not further than this season, 1-2 in 1 score games.
Since they got a new OC Iowa has scored 30+ points in 6/12 B1G games. 3 of those 6 have been 40 or more.
They averaged 26.6 points per game in the conference last season with 2nd/3rd/4th string QBs getting most of the snaps. That was 7th in the B1G.
They currently sit at 30 points a game in...
I could see Fox pushing for Indiana vs UCLA as well. I don't think they've been to IU yet and they have proven to be one of the best teams in the nation and a very compelling story. Their fan base would also probably really show up for it.
1. Jim Leonard is no longer there running that attacking 3-4 defense
2. They don't get to play in the B1G West anymore
3. Their QB1 has been hurt 3 straight years (Fickell actually has a winning record when their QB1 starts)
4. They're not talented enough to be a finesse team. And not physical...
Purdue is dead last in the nation in opponent yards per pass attempt. Minnesota is 104th in the same metric. (Note- those numbers do not count games vs opponents that are not FBS)
I see the o/u is 52.5. That might be the bet to make. This could be a shootout.
Exactly right. They gave a starting LB from Iowa $100,000 just to visit and he was coming off a significant injury. He went there, got hurt again, and rode the bench.
They got the money to throw at players.
