Sporting News: Minnesota football projected for pedestrian finish in 2026 Big Ten predictions

I would say 6-6 at absolute worst but would also take over 7.5

You could also say we are due to be better in the run game. But I agree Defense we kind of no what to expect. I expect above average but not all conference level QB play. If we can run, we can win 8-10 games. If we can’t, 5-7 wins

I agree. Washington’s best conference win last year was Illinois. Second best was maybe Rutgers? Also had a loss to Wisconsin Penn state was 7-6 and now has Iowa states 8-4 roster Michigan could be great or could be a shit show. Indiana could be great or could come back down to being just...

Is it a bit hard for Minn fans to stomach ESPN's initial College Football Power Index (FPI) Ranking of 63?

Big issue I have with sagarin and Kenpom (in hoops) is it’s so efficiency based…which can tell you something but not everything. Two teams play same schedule and play same number of possessions against each opponent. Team A goes 10-2 with 10 1 point wins and 2 40 point losses. Team B goes 4-8...

Is it a bit hard for Minn fans to stomach ESPN's initial College Football Power Index (FPI) Ranking of 63?

I have less a problem with that than the same metrics saying a terrible team was good such as 7-6 penn state being 16th Or 5-7 Auburn being 24th Or 4-8 South Carolina and Florida being ranked 34 and 37 Or 2-10 Arkansas being ranked 42 2-10 Arkansas lost to 57th 8-5 Memphis So when you say it’s...

    Michigan AD in More Trouble

Someone already said it but this is a wild post considering we did have trouble like that and won a title with the trouble

Is it a bit hard for Minn fans to stomach ESPN's initial College Football Power Index (FPI) Ranking of 63?

If anyone making any judgements of anyone including themselves based on how they view FPI or Sagarin ratings as a metric…it is that person who has some serious issues.

Is it a bit hard for Minn fans to stomach ESPN's initial College Football Power Index (FPI) Ranking of 63?

They usually have the gophers about right but are wrong about everyone else The gophers are better than 25 teams ahead of them and worse than 25 behind them

Is it a bit hard for Minn fans to stomach ESPN's initial College Football Power Index (FPI) Ranking of 63?

FPI is a rating created to put “Statistical” rating to justify early season losses not impacting certain teams. Even at the end of the year last year: 4-8 Wisconsin rated higher than 8-5 Minnesota after losing and basically being impotent The problem is espn FPI baked in SOS to their ratings...

On3: Phil Steele 2026 preseason poll, ranking all college football teams, 1 to 138

If only they had added toughness and talent to that combo they might be onto something. I think they can get better now that they’ve committed to an identity. But I don’t think they can be a 9+ win team for another 2-3 seasons. And I think there is a very low chance coach gets another 2. I do...

On3: Phil Steele 2026 preseason poll, ranking all college football teams, 1 to 138

I think the Huskers love is because they were 7-3 with close losses to USC and Michigan when their QB went down. Now, that QB left but
