This is likely an issue in both the smallest 11 man class and the 9 man class.
Depends on how many teams but:
Sections will be more than 6.
So a section of 8 will have 7 games vs section and one self scheduled
A section of 7 will be paired with another section of 7.
Every team will play 8...
I would think a final big ten expansion attempts to get 24 or 28 (nice numbers for scheduling)
That means 6 or 10 teams join:
The Prime candidates (not all realistic)
Utah
Arizona State
Colorado
Texas A&M
Notre dame
Virginia
North Carolina
Georgia Tech
Missouri
Fallback team(s) to...
I have a secret plan to fix it all.
And it involves 48 teams per class.
6 teams per section.
Your schedule is 5 in your section and self schedule 3 games. You can play a team from another class if 4 teams agree to play from another class to make the classes “whole”
4/6 teams make a 32 team...
Doing that for two lanes wouldn’t make a difference anyways. Even if it were two it would go from 5-3 to for through the tunnel anyways instead of 4-3
What they really needed to do is go Chicago skyway on it and have you go over loring park and drop onto 94 on the other side of the tunnel
3 plays away from 10-2 and the playoff
True
Also 3 plays away from 4-8
True
For teams 4-11 in the conference, it is going to be about winning close games.
True
Yeah.
Play zero week as week 1
Labor Day week 2
For 2025 what a 16 team playoff would look like:
Championship weekend or play in weekend…whatever it becomes is thanksgiving weekend.
Selection show is the Sunday after thanksgiving. (Nov 30, 2025)
First 2 games take place 2 weeks after...
I think anything from 6 to about 12 is reasonable for fleck
5 or higher he is not
And there are some coaches I simply can’t see anyone putting above him
i also like play in type weekend because it brings back the possibility of “co champions” which makes a conference title so much more likely for people
It’s an interesting exercise but even in the era of NIL disconnecting these teams from the university and putting control of all their branding and marketing in the hands of a franchise owner would probably cut the value a great deal.
I genuinely disagree with what the playoff is all about too.
Some people think it should be the “best” teams. But this is subjective.
I think it should be about finding out who “The Best” is. Which would mean if you already know someone isn’t the best you error on leaving them out.
Teams with...
Big ten has a lot of good coaches
There might be 13-15 who would be consistent national title contenders if they were the coach of Ohio State
Wisconsin has the coach who had the worst season in Ohio state history 😂
