You may be onto something. It is like the front page editions that the Onion does for days in history like when astronauts landed on the moon. We could have a parallel universe link to "Gopherhole 80s" where we could melt down at Holtz's defection to Notre Dame, debate about the true value of...
The '26 class is really shaping up. To think we (me, anyway) are grinding our teeth about what is probably PJ's least talented team at MN, yet it still has an excellent chance at 8-4 AND a stellar '26 recruiting class waiting in the wings... this is just outstanding.
There is a bit more to it than that. It generates a LOT of excitement and anticipation on a lot of campuses and provides material for a lot of daydreaming as it pertains to David/Goliath matchups. Truly huge upsets early are (would be) rare but they are in basketball too.
72 pages (and counting) of Minnesota fan insecurity. It's hard to believe that one Lou Holtz defection to Notre Dame could eternally stir the same pot. vigorously.

Gustavus has held state playoff games over the years. It's an easy place to host a big football crowd and it has decent levels of seating on both sides of the field. It also has a long history of hosting all kinds of HS playoff action in other sports ranging from basketball and hockey to...
His college football takes have been soooo bad, he would have to write about 10 groundbreaking insightful columns in a row about the Gophers or college football in general for me to begin reading him again. I take a wide pass any time I see him attempt to write something about college football...
This is such a wacky Gopher football year. There is potential to be undefeated at home and winless on the road. Please please please beat Northwestern and Wisconsin to preserve half that possibility and destroy the other. After all is said and done, I just don't think the Gophers will see this...
The Gophers have a decent shot at going undefeated at home this year. That would be the first time since 1967. That is a great accomplishment. That exceeds my usual expectations.

(there is always a but)
the undefeated home schedule would include wins over the following B1G teams:
