I literally laughed outloud at this... I agree... there is no right or wrong in this debate. I love the idea of a 12 team playoff. I am not crazy about it getting bigger.
I think where the issue is with the current playoffs is the committee. I wish they would just say SEC gets 3 teams, Big Ten...
I don't know if it will be ignored. I will agree that it won't have more stand alone viewers, but I would assume majority of America will be like me and flip back between channels depending on what game is better.
My main viewing will be the college playoffs because there is more at stake.
You can disagree, but the fact is if there is a benefit or a consequence (bye or home field) there is actually more to playoff than the old model of bowl games only.
For those of you think the playoffs are too big... it is December 19 and tonight we can watch Oklahoma vs. Alabama. That is a heck of a lot more fun than watching two random schools playing in the whatevercompany.com Birmingham Bowl, etc.
I strongly disagree with this. A 12 team playoff waters down the regular season for the top 3-4 teams heading into mid November, but there are 15-20 teams who are playing for their lives and with a win and another team losing may get to that coveted 12th spot. I could even argue that the regular...
These two and Sam Jacobson.
I am 42 and in my lifetime they stand out from all other Gophers.
People like Pryzbilla and Kris Humphrey were good but didn't have the careers they had.
Also, always liked Dusty Rychart. He's not a 'banner quality' player but one of my all-time favorites.
This is 100% the case, would guess the caoching salaries from both schools is within a few $100 of each other. Guessing they are right around the $7500 figure.
With that being said, summer camps could be huge... Wayzata alone with their student population I am guessing is a good chunk of money.
Such a great generation of Gopher fans. Lost my grandfather 1.5 years ago. 94 years old.
He would often share stories of hitchhiking or catching trains to go to Gopher games in the 40s.
Sorry for your loss - can only hope that the memories you have and share with family in the days to come...
Nearly every AD in the country is asking the same question. Schools are going to try their hardest to recreate the Cignetti/Indiana situation. Wish them all good luck. Easier said, than done.
I like Fleck but if we ever move on from him…. I want our next coach to have this mindset.

This compared to PJ’s approach of “more games are lost than they are won” which I firmly believe costs us 1-2 games per year.
I feel the entire stadium turned a corner in 2019 vs. Penn State. The stadium was electric. The game actually mattered. The home team rose to the challenge and won a game they maybe shouldn't have won (can't remember, but am assuming we were the underdog), and the weather was perfect. Cold...
Any SEC team... mainly Tennessee because they are vastly overrated. LSU is a no win situation. If we win, everyone will have the built in excuse of they don't really have a head coach right now...
I guess it happens more in high school (non-football sports) where a team may not get a specific rival on their schedule and will schedule them as non-conference, or in basketball where maybe a conference will schedule two teams to a conference game and then the schools will schedule a second...
I don't follow NDSU/FCS very closely - I do cheer for them in the playoffs and will usually try to tune in once they are on TV...
I was reading somewhere that some think this might be the best NDSU team they've had during their FCS era.
I echo your thought... didn't realize FCS teams could...
When I typed my response it was more with frustration with our GM than nitpicking your potential trade.
We not only have minimal talent, we don't even have a ton of draft capital to help.
