Yeah, apparently Stewart's school was in better shape but it was closed in favor of keeping Brownton's open which didn't sit well with folks from Stewart. It was also part of the financial issues as the Brownton school was going to require a lot more money to repair and maintain.
Stewart is part of Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart now. Brownton is part of GSL now.
But there are kids from both towns the open enroll and go to Hutch and for a while now for Wrestling Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart has a co-op with Hutchinson.
Ultimately the district was going under financially...
Yeah, lots of surrounding small towns tend to open enroll at the biggest school or they're just in that bigger town's school district.
Like out here in Hutchinson we get kids from Stewart, Cedar Mills, Brownton, and Biscay.
It's why classes go by enrollment not by population. And the further...
I think in the end that is a play a HS QB is probably only going to make 3 of 10 times. So they were in a spot where they can make the QB beat them or they can give a cushion and make the WR make the catch and break a tackle. Defense was all wrong though. If I remember Steiner is their go to WR...
I think they were tested this time but just Hutch and Rocori were all down this year. Hutch more than Rocori.
Orono is a stout defensive team, which is why I thought they might be a Darkhorse to win it all. Marshall just couldn't crack that defense in either game. Will be interesting to see...
Yeah, I was sure by letter of the rule it probably was a penalty but sometimes refs need to consider the moment. Damn near every kid in the state is going to do something like that if they make that play.
That should not have been a penalty. I don't know 100% what the wording of the rule is but he more like flung the ball backwards kinda semi spike and it wasn't directed at anyone and wasn't egregious. Would have been incredibly stupid if Orono lost because of that kind of call.
What an awful unsportsman like conduct penalty called in OT on Orono. Absolutely terrible call.
But then Mauer throws a dime for the 2pt conversion to win it for Orono! At least the terrible call didn't end up mattering.
Orono was a team I thought could be a Darkhorse. Good defensive team so...
Every metric is bad to use on it's own. There's no one data point that can be used on it's own and be accurate. And almost nobody is using QRF alone as seeding criteria. Just like wins alone isn't perfect. Or points differential isn't perfect. Or strength of schedule isn't perfect. But these...
It is good as far as rating formulas go. None of them are 100% accurate but if you just go look at the results of the playoffs over the last several years it's pretty accurate. Now the issue is 6A is a whole different thing and the way things work with relief section...ect kinda skews things...
Right but the point is if you look at QRF for 6A may not be as accurate as it is for the rest of the classes but IDK if I would argue about a 1 win team's seeding no matter who they played. Clearly neither Wayzata or Lakeville North were top 20 team this year.
I get that they played tough...
