Colorado came into the 1972 game a top five or top ten team. It was Cal Stoll’s first home game as coach. I was a fourth grader impressed by the cowboy hats and cowboy boots of the Buffalo fans—the visiting fans sat below us in section 26 at Memorial Stadium.
Two disheartening and ominous statistics: no sacks or plays longer than 31 yards in two games—some hope for latter; for the former the push from Pinckney & Martin up front does not seem to be materializing…two long field goals provides a reason to smile, though..
Admission/apology is meaningless for player safety until those responsible (on the field and in the replay booth) are formally and publicly reprimanded so that is recognized as full fledged error. Otherwise given the precedent established by this non-call in the first week of the season it is...

Thank you for your comment. Congratulations on the Buckeye victory. The talent is remarkable and the coaching is very good. Forgive us for our suspicions/hunches for they are not completely irrational. In our last two games with OSU (I may be missing a game in between) two targeting calls...
I’m now in full-fledged Gopher football superstition mode—good karma for Minnesota means wishing all teams well (even in the battle of entitled child vs. boorish Brett)…
