Great story—thank you for sharing.
Great story—thanks for sharing. I know someone who was at the game. He was 12 years old. He claims Minnesota had the ball & the lead in OT & were victimized by a “Wooden call”—a suspect traveling or offensive foul against Minnesota. I have no idea if this...
Random fact: the 69-70 team played at UND (12/4) and then hosted UCLA (12/6). Nothing like a trip to Grand Forks to prepare for the Wizards of Westwood at Williams Arena. (It almost worked: lost by one in OT.)
The 2005 game was Iowa’s senior Day. In one oh those crowded section entrances I ended-up standing in-line with the Iowa parents waiting to take the field. Everybody had a good laugh.
Minnesota beat Iowa each of Joe’s Salem’s first three years yielding a total of 23 points in the games. The 1980 game is one of my all-time favorites. It was the last Minnesota-Iowa game played at Memorial Stadium
and the Gopher’s last trophy game win at Memorial Stadium.
The game was a...
The Hoover Presidential Library is the one closest to Minnesota. His achievement in feeding starving Europe after World War l is well documented in the museum.
It must be my 62 year old Viking eyes but I’m not seeing the “indisputable visual evidence” of a mistaken call. Nevertheless, the deserving team won the game and it’s time to move on to LA.
Funny: my critique is his insistence on running on first down from the 10 & 11 as they did on the first & last drives. The TOLs killed both of those drives. If you see too much passing & I see too much running—maybe it’s the personnel…
Hoping we run play-action out of the “I”—force them out of their preferred man coverage where by secret Big Ten Officiating Edict they are allowed to hold on every play.
Seems much like Tyler Johnson as a freshman with a capacity to make plays but needing experience and strength. My son and I went to Lincoln in 2016 and Johnson had a catch & run of about 30-40 yards but he was caught from behind. We agreed: give Johnson a couple years and he’ll finish plays...
Ran the court well in the second half: scored smoothly off a pick & role; may provide passing/pick & role option from the high post. The Palm beach tourney will likely show if he can provide depth minutes in Power 4/Big Ten games.
