Fair enough. After that loss, many on here were concerned it meant we were out of the tournament already. But your thoughts are much more realistic.
Hopefully they can pull off a big ranked win or two (like Michigan) to help with seeding.
Maryland blew Wisconsin out 97 to 59 yesterday. They're still undefeated, and looking at their schedule, they could easily go 18-0 before they see their next stiff competition from USC. Blowing multiple leads against them still stings a lot, but in the end I don't think the committee is going to...
Grace made last week's Big Ten honor roll for her performance against Drake. Her three point percentage right now over the first 12 games is 51.7%, which is the 4th best in the country and 2nd best in the Big Ten!
Drake had played four other power conference teams this season and all four of them were ranked at the time. But Minnesota was the only team able to hold them below 50 points.
I think the announcers doing games on Big Ten Plus are almost always just students at the university that's hosting. So that would be why they're both a little less skilled and a little more enthusiastic about the home team.
Props to Grace who through 10 games has averaged 13.4 points per game and shot almost 50% overall (49.5%), 50% from 2, 49% from 3, and 100% free throws!
Even though that's an astounding amount of money, this is what it's going to take for this program to be able to compete with the other established teams. I'm glad we're starting to get some investment. Should make it a bit easier to recruit bigger talent in the coming years!
Most power conference teams, including many of the nationally ranked teams, stack their nonconference schedule with easy wins. Look at Maryland's nonconference schedule for example. Theirs is almost as weak as Minnesota's. Kim Mulkey and LSU are a notorious example of this too. A tough...
I really liked when they went small with 5 guards today. Hopefully this was a good test case to show it could work against other Big Ten opponents when Sophie needs a breather.
This team is making the tournament and you can quote me on that on Selection Sunday!
Everyone is acting like it was the end of the world to lose to a really good team with a coach who has a history of winning championships. And I can bet half of the people with the doom and gloom were on...
Rough loss. The game was sunk when Tori had to sit for the third quarter and when she fouled out. With her in for a little more time, we'd have won. She's definitely our best player.
Alabama (still undefeated) just blew out Clemson yesterday, 72-48. So the 5 point loss in a game that was close with them until the end isn't looking so bad anymore. Seems like the Gophers can play just about anyone close, but just need to figure out how to end close games on top.
