    Sydney Schnichels Transferring

Not a massive loss in either case. We could really use a big time hitter. If there's one available that would be my first wish. Kennedy Martin would be a dream. Might be others who could help us. Beyond that I suppose a DS or another middle would also be nice.

    Mary Wise also retires

Well then we're going to miss you. I would put her likelihood of ending up with one of the 4 teams you named at 90%.

    Final Spring Match

Nothing harsh, or wrong, about your assessment Ruffda. In order to make a jump I think we need a healthy Wucherer and a jump from one of the other hitters. If Wookie doesn't get healthy we need two of the others to make a big jump.

    Final Spring Match

I do follow the thread on Volleytalk but I like this group better. Way too much petty bickering between the posters over there. I think a few of them get their jollies trolling. We disagree and argue on this site too but it's mostly well intentioned and substantive.

    Final Spring Match

Did anyone on this board attend the final match? Would love to hear some impressions.

    Brookings Matches Recap

Olivia appeared briefly in one set as a serve specialist. She's played very little this spring. Looks like she's buried way down the depth chart.

    St. Thomas Match Recap

Taylor as RS doesn't seem likely. It's an idea that's been proposed on volleytalk. The thought is that she's such a good athlete and strong hitter it makes some sense. I think she actually played hitter in high school. She did not play hitter at all in any of the spring matches. I think she's...

    St. Thomas Match Recap

This one was kind of boring. St. Thomas is not very good. By far the weakest team the Gophers have faced this spring. Its tough to draw too many conclusions from this one but I won't let that stop me from trying. Stella was good again today. Moved the ball around well and her defense was...

    Kristen Bernthal Booth Resigned

Kristen Bernthal Booth resigned as head coach at Creighton on Sunday. She was there and coached against the Gophers on Saturday in Brookings. Strange timing.

    Brookings Matches Recap

Mostly good points. Stella is a good blocker already. Her serve is OK. She doesn't make service errors but I would like to see a little more pace. Her back row defense is also OK. Not great but not horrible. I'd like to see Z and KT take a step forward off last year. So far I'd say that's...

    Brookings Matches Recap

In match 1 the Gophers dropped 2 of 3 sets to South Dakota State. The Gophers won set one easily. Set 2 was not good as Coach Cook played everyone and the connections just weren't there. Set three was also ragged and the Gophers seemed listless and uninterested. Individually Stella was solid...

    First Spring Match Recap

I found the match a little boring too Ruffda. UNI was not much of a challenge. It will be interesting to see how our Gophs fare against Creighton next weekend. I'll be there and will share some thoughts with the group.

    First Spring Match Recap

I agree with you on the middles. It's hard to get too excited or too down based on one spring match. I do love the size of the 2 new ones. That will work its way out over time. Based on yesterday's limited sample size I agree that Gilk should be in the mix. This is tough though as Acevedo...

    First Spring Match Recap

The first match of the spring season took place this afternoon at the Pav. For those who couldn't attend here's a synopsis of the action. The Gophers won 3 of the 4 sets and were very much the better team. They lost set #3 when Coach Cook emptied the bench and tried some different lineups...

John Cook has retired at Nebraska

Plenty of room on the Gopher Volleyball bandwagon. All are welcome. Except Kelly Sheffield.
