I don't think it's weird at all. It feels like this is a rivalry that's grown pretty strong pretty quickly. I wouldn't doubt it if a large majority of Gopher fans consider Nebraska our biggest rival behind Wisconsin and Iowa.
I keep trying to tell the casual fans of my generation that we've been much better this century than they realize. Brewster skews these numbers, unfortunately. But 1999 is really the dividing line between mediocrity and competitiveness.
Between 1999 and 2016, we were at or above .500 39% of the...
For the past few years, you've needed to buy a tailgating permit from the Park Board. Even with the permit, you still have to pay for parking at the lot, and no -- you're not guaranteed a spot in the lot. We've only gone there once (last year) because we didn't want to get stuck without a spot...
Where have you seen that tailgating there is no longer allowed? It was last year (not that it's relevant for this year), but I haven't seen anything stating it won't be this year. The city sold tailgating permits online, with each game specifically listed; my assumption is the site isn't updated...
I'm not saying our helmet is anything special, but aren't most helmets little more than an oversized letter in the team colors (which they said works well for us)? And did they really use the helmet in that picture for their rating? I'm sure it's been used a few times, but probably less than...
Rautins would've made a big difference if he stayed. I had to look it up: He averaged 8.3 points, four rebounds and four assists as a freshman. Compare that to Tucker as a freshman (9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1 assist), Mitchell (7.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists) and Mark Hall (8.5 points...
He didn't say running more would've led to more success; he said running better. Hard to disagree. Having said that, Lindsey's competence and the passing game is probably the key question heading into the season.
Well, of course. For an "intense rivalry" to emerge, not only would we need to play them annually (or close), but we'd have to win our share of games. That means we're probably making the playoffs often. I'll take making the playoff often with or without the rivalry. But I'd take the rivalry...
I'm not sure if this is a joke, but I'll reply. Two things can be true: You can hate the way the game is changing and also try to win playing by the current rules.
Using "principles" might encourage a coach to tell a player entering the portal that if he makes that move he's not welcome back...
Just getting to this thread and this reply says much of what I had in mind. We almost made it the tournament in that third season, and I always thought that if he had, the momentum would've continued. Win that game against Illinois, and I think it changes everything about the rest of his tenure...
Clemson and Virginia Tech both recently raised their student fees -- by $150 per semester and $186 annually, respectively -- specifically for athletics. There'd be a lot bigger blowback in Minnesota, however.
