DeBoer is an enigma. What he did at Washington was damn good but at bama he looks like an also-ran. Makes me question if he is actually as good of a coach as everyone thinks.

You are correct. Maybe it was a combo of how he played at the end of the season and losing two upper class linebackers that year. The memory works in mysterious ways. I do recall thinking he was going to be a stud and help mask linebacker deficiency in pass coverage.

Coordinator pay was an issue going back to Mason. If he could have kept David Gibbs I'm certain Mason's time with the team would have been better. I also do not believe Fleck is as hamstrung on the coordinator budget as previous coaches.
