Martin fell out favor and then was hurt late in the year, maybe would have got some time at DH but I certainly think they were looking to bring in more competition there.
Quinn is a guy I really liked too and the sentiment from many seems to be he was a very likable player within the program and...
Neels was pretty banged up playing through a number of things but I think he broke a finger or bone in his hand Thursday.
Morton it does sound like will need TJ.
My point didn't apply at all to this year. Both us and Michigan State played a very comparable top 8. I'm just pointing out why that tiebreaker is probably not a great idea moving forward.
I think Bello and Lippe will actually have another year of eligibility. Bello via a medical redshirt at Air Force and Lippe maybe a medical for this year, neither guy went through senior day.
Morton is a top 150 prospect so really really doubtful we get him back.
Execution late in games. Few different times we had runner on 3rd less than 2 out either down by 1 or tied late in a conference game and couldn't score him, just a few weeks ago at Penn State I think it was Hellum got on Spanier showed bunt got a wild pitch to get Hellum to 2nd, Spanier bunted...
Thinking about the tiebreaker more why the hell would you use record against top 8 instead of common opponents? Common opponents at least it’s an even playing field, record against top 8 could be very unbalanced results. People that run Big Ten baseball have never been accused of being the smartest.
Just so many close losses, had to be like 5-15 in 1 or 3 run games. They played a lot of good baseball but that didn’t always lead to the result. The situational hitting those first 3 weeks of conference play were killer.
Battled really hard especially after the rough start but just too many free bases today especially against a good team. This is a year that feels like the record should be much better than it ended up with the way they played for the majority of games.
If you are talking serious contender like in the national tournament year in and year out you need to put a lot more scholarships into baseball, we are nowhere near the 34 you could give out if administration wanted too.
McDevitt and staff have certainly done well recruiting the state when you...
Patrick Ebert tweeted he thought Gophers were in by virtue of Penn St loss. Apparently some confusion if it goes to 1-8 win % or record against common B1G opponents.
Probably the reason they didn’t trust putting Carey on and loading the bases like I thought they might for the left/left. I did think Hunt should’ve been more aggressive going after that slider though.
