I guess the obvious thing is that you actually play for a championship, and it requires you to win at least a few games, like every other sport on the planet. And yes, I personally do like it that teams from the Group of 5 have a shot. I find it way more intriguing than the old bowl system.

That's right. Except I would rephrase it to "neither one is the perfect option." So what do you do? Just abandon the playoff? In my opinion, having a playoff is much better than the old bowl system, even if it has its flaws. It won't be perfect as no tournament/playoff ever is.

Yes, I agree that it's much easier for this to happen in basketball. But upsets happen in football all the time, including an occasional game with 20+ point spreads. The only argument here is whether you are trying to get the true 12 best teams in CFB in the playoff . Or... is the objective...

I would agree with that. He has made huge strides. I'd have to give my "most improved" award to Javon Moore though. I originally thought... "I can't believe this kid is on scholarship." But the last few series he has been really good and I thought he played well last night too.

With all local kids who choose another school, I move on from them the minute they decide not to come to U of MN. I don't wish them ill but I could not care less where they go if they aren't Gophers. Of course if they play against the Gophs, then I do wish them ill - a sound thrashing.

I agree with the ones you list (not sure about Indiana) but I see no concrete evidence that we are behind any of the remaining schools. Are we really behind Iowa? Maryland? Rutgers? Illinois? Michigan State? Purdue? What makes anyone think that UCLA, Northwestern, Nebraska, or Wisconsin...

Please, please, please point to some reliable data. I don't care who talks about it unless someone is actually on the know. There just seems to be this assumption that we somehow have less than the majority of the BIG schools? Really?
