I didn't really notice the announcers much until very late in the game, when the Huskies post got matched up against Braun on a switch down near the low, right block. McGaughy made a spin and step through and the announcers were gushing about her footwork. As they were pointing out the great...
Coach Techs are a 50/50 deal. Sometimes it can fire up a team that is unable to motivate themselves. Sometimes, you realize that you just dug yourself a 4-point hole. I prefer a coach who can let the ref know they don't agree with the call(s), but not go over the line. Most refs have about...
Well, I honestly thought that game went as well as could be expected. Especially for the 1st 30 minutes or so. They're better than us and at home. Our 2 stars had great games, nobody really stunk it up. That last 10-0 run late near the end of the game ended up being the difference. We still...
With the usual caveat of not having seen any practices or practice films, I'm guessing that Niko feels his team is better off running a worn down Asuma, Reynolds, Shinholster out there than a fresh Gizzi. Reminds me of the days when the Giants felt they'd rather play Barry Bonds at 60% of his...
I've had a few successful coaches tell me that "there is no guarantee that I'll put you in a game, even a blow-out. You develop and earn my trust and confidence every day in practice. Once the player has done that by taking care of business, then you get playing time." It seems some of these...
I honestly think we might be a top 60 team. On a great night with everything clicking, we can give anybody a good game. But like most Better Than Average, but not Great teams, it's going to be rare that everyone and everything is clicking at the same time. I've spent time around some pretty...
If GG can't get open for decent looks from 3, what makes you think that Christian can? I don't think she's much faster, quicker or as adaptable as GG at this point. GG is about as good as we have at getting open for her shots, and UCLA gave her nothing. I mean, we worked pretty hard to get her...
Almost all of GG's success tonight has been when she gets the ball in the paint and uses her old post moves. UCLA is doing a great job on her and the rest of the Gophers out on the perimeter. Even when we do get a rare open look from outside, UCLA closes very quickly with size in our face.
We're doing a great job of preventing UCLA shots, but they're making the ones we give them. UCLA on the other hand is gumming up our offensive sets pretty badly. We can't seem to get a decent screen set. They're either effectively switching and hedging, or simply fighting over our screens...
What if our team beats Winter bad, like 0-10 from the floor, no rebounds and he fouls out early in the second half, but the rest of the Badgers play out of their heads and they win?
I want to beat Wisconsin (the team) and if Winter goes for 25 and 10 with 4 blocks and looks like an...
My main question for almost everybody we get or look at is: Will they likely give up more points than they score? If they are strictly scorers and terrible defenders, well, those guys are a dime a dozen. If you feel that (even if they aren't great on-ball defenders like maybe Durkin) they...
The way Minnesota found a way to win was clamping down on defense, taking care of the ball, clearing rebounds and one of our scorers got really hot. USC's defense against us and the big offensive second quarter by Davenport was the reason they surged ahead in the 2nd quarter.
I'm not worried about Battle. I'm guessing that in the next game or game after, she'll end up having another one of those "Thank God for Battle" games that she seems to come up with just when casual fans are losing faith in her.
