Where is your local Gopher bar? Where can out-of-town Gophers find the game?

Definitely yes.

The Curse has changed its name to Red Ivy Sports Club and made some significant upgrades. Same owners and still the official Gopher bar in Chicago.

We have a nice crew going, I'd be surprised if it's not the biggest out of town Gopher bar in the country.

Awesome, thanks Nate

The site does say it's showing Purdue games this fall though.

Kansas City - Any gopher bars down here?

I'm hoping Max Shortell (I learned from BTN that you have to say his name as Max Shortell he true freshman from Shawnee Mission, KS) gets at least one year of starting to perhaps boost some Gopher love down in this area. I'm not so sure Drew Goodger will ever be a star but I can hope he excells.

Bump.

I'm taking a road trip to Kansas City this weekend with some buddies for the Twins-Royals series and am looking for somewhere to watch the Gophers game Thursday night. Anybody have any places in mind?

Yeah the website is poorly done, it doesn't do a good job of separating the two bars. Minnesota games will definitely be on with sound on the Red Ivy Sports Club side.

Depends on what part of the city you are staying in. However I have found that the Minsky's (a pizza/sports bar) is always a good place. Several locations around the metro area.

Does anyone know if there is a Gopher bar in Portland, OR?

Orlando / Disney World

When in Orlando, FL, you may go to: Buffalo Wild Wings, 12511 State Route 535, aka Lake Buena Vista, next to Disney World. Alums will be there for "game watches" for Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois games.

Anyone know of a place in the Albany, NY area? I'm going out there the day after the Michigan game, and will be there for the remainder of the season. I would appreciate not having to watch games online.

I love the thread. I have been living in Omaha for several years and have some other buddies from minnesota down here. We have looked for a "Minnesota Bar" and talked about how it would be fun but haven't had any success.

Anyone have an idea of a good Minnesota football bar in Phoenix? Gopherfaith and I have relocated to Arizona, and we will need our fix. We're centered in the I-17/101 area, but hell, I'll drive to hang with Gopher fans.

In Madison, I go to Wilson's. the Bmarys are as good as anyones and the MN people show up for Basketball.

Thanks Gopher07! We are thinking of living in Ballard or Fremont so this is good to know.

Bumping this thread - anyone know of a place in Portland (OR)? Going to be out there during the season opener and would love to catch it on TV.

I'm actually going to be an attempt to contact each alumni chapter to get some sort of "master list" going for the season. I'm waiting until August because in a lot of cities the bar changes from year to year and they're still in the process of securing a new spot.

Most Big Ten schools have a list on their official alumni page, we're behind the times, SHOCKING.

piffle_dragon, I too am over in the East Bay (Oakland/Piedmont to be exact). Any luck finding a Bay Area bar that caters to the Maroon and Gold?

Fantastic news!

No, I haven't had any luck. But I live relatively close to you (Alcatraz and Telegraph). Nothing wrong with us getting one started if you are interested!

I'll PM you to discuss!

BayAreaRodent's 'impossible decision' is a complete no-brainer. BayAreaRodent and piffle_dragon have a grand opening. And two pairs of ex-lovers find themselves starting over again -- or not.

When I lived there, I used to watch games at Damon's Bar and Grill across from Target in Jantzen Beach. But that was 10 years ago. Try contacting Amanda Davies, the alumni chapter leader.

The Village Well in Ft Lauderdale. Bar tenders have MN ties and they have big ten network.

Bumping this for my brother that just moved to Long Beach Ca.

California is hard for us Gopher fans. Games start at 9:00 in the morning (for an 11 am start central) and that is pretty dang early to head to a bar. If your brother has AT&T Uverse he can get all the games on the BTN from his bed. I usually get up around 6:30 to watch college game day (only because both my dog and daughter get me up at that time) and then roll down stairs with a pot of coffee for the 9:00 kick off. Now if that coffee has baileys in it or not depends on the opponent.

I know that the U of M alumni group in Los Angeles is meeting for the game on Saturday at Patrick Molloy's (www.patrickmolloys.com) in Hermosa Beach (not too far from Long Beach, maybe 20 miles). I can't say if it's a Gopher bar or not--I've never been--but there will probably be a decent amount of Gopher fans to connect with.

I actually do live in Seattle now and last week I watched the game at Buckley's in Belltown. It was great until the Seahawks game came on and every screen in the bar switched to that. I missed the whole 4th quarter and thus all the controversy. Any sports bar here worth its druthers will have BTN, so all you have to do is ask and they'll make a channel available to you. Apparently there's a place in Capitol Hill called 95 Slide that has individual tvs at each both so you can watch what you want. I don't know if they have BTN thought.

The bar I go to opens at 9AM, and I usually order pancakes or an omelette, then have a beer at halftime. I love the early mornings, and the 10 AM starts for NFL games.

Sounds like some good options in LA (thanks all). I will send them this.

I am still looking for a decent bar in South Mpls for Gopher road games. I tried to recruit people to watch at Herkimer for the Indiana game last year, but they had the sound off and said they only turn it on for Packer and Badger games (that sounds about as gross as their beer).
