I know it might be a dumb question, but does anyone miss going to games there? I for one don't, I love The Bank but I'm sure there are some people out there that still wish we played in the dome.

Yes, Lois Feldman does.

Outside of her, I imagine no one.

Go Gophers!!

We have had generally great weather for games at the Bank. On the worst days so far someone has always said "better than being in the dome". Miss NOTHING about the dome.

Yeah, I don't miss it either. I just wish we could get a winning product on the field so we could get The Bank packed and see it at full strength. When the student section is empty and people aren't renewing or getting season tickets for the first time, the place is going to turn into The Barn really quick.

No way no how, not in the least. I'm going to toast when they blow it up.

I will never miss the Metrodome, there was nothing redeeming about playing in that place. Far to many horrifying losses and late game
losses to like that place. It is not a coincidence that we won most of our significant games on the road during that period.
The one game we truly felt like we had a home atmosphere
was the 2003 Michigan game that the Twins playoff game moved. Then the 4th quarter and the collapse. Program never fully recovered from what could have been,
had the Gophers held on to win that game. Perhaps the whole Brewster debacle never occurs if we win that game.
People that week were excited about the Gophers and there was a genuine buzz, non-fans and casual fans were talking about the game that
week and hoping the Gophers would win. It was a moment in time and opportunity to turn the program around we cannot get back.
Some day the Bank will be a home field advantage, it is on our campus and it will become that as we all will help make it that.

You are 100% right....I hope.

I suppose there are some people who miss the dome, but I doubt you will find any here. There were some people who insisted we needed a dome because it might rain. But it was always a shame to be sitting in the dome on a perfect fall day, thinking how much better it would be outside.

I think the thing that bugged me the most about the dome wasn't the fact it was off campus (although that bugged me too). To me, the biggest problem was the "away game" feeling it always seemed to have. 20,000 empty blue seats were just depressing. The attempt to hang maroon and gold Gopher signs with velcro just made it worse. Seeing a Bruce Smith sign that looked like someone ordered it on the phone from a sign shop and then hung with velcro, surrounded by bright blue seats... it was just too much for me. Atmosphere was cheap, plastic, and actually made worse by the "home field" signs. I also hated the way they mic'd the band and how their sound was bouncing around the building in a very un-college way.

Of course the Gophers having their own outdoor on campus stadium was the BEST solution. However, if it had to be a different way, I could have lived with a Metrodome overhaul specifically for the Gophers. Maroon and gold seats, permanent signage, etc. It would have helped the Metrodome atmosphere quite a bit. There were several years there where the student section was pretty good. Until all the condos went up there was a pretty good tailgate scene and the student section was actually mostly filled. I think it is all evidence that to draw students... a vibrant party/tailgate scene is more important than the actual location of the stadium. Don't mistaken the point though: I am very thankful for TCF Bank Stadium as well as the current and potential atmosphere it can deliver.

The only thing I miss is the light rail connectivity, but that will be back in just a couple seasons.

The only thing I miss is the cheap alternatives to tailgating for people who can't afford a $2000 or $1000 tailgating pass. I know it wasn't great tailgating atmosphere, but at least there were cheap options.

Other than that, the dome was absolutely awful to enjoy a game in.

I miss the dome for the simple fact the teams were better under Mason than the past few years. Hopefully we can at least get back to mediocrity. Other than that, I don't miss that dump at all.

Yeah, mediocre 10 win seasons are the worst.

Absolutely not.

A bad day in the New Brickhouse is better than a good day in the Dump, which were woefully few.

So this is my honest opinion, I miss it for Twins baseball, it offered us one of the biggest home field advantages in the league that no other stadium had, really loud environment, a white roof, odd dimensions, that Target Field doesn't have. But for football i don't think anybody misses it.

No. My last visit to the dump was the Lois Feldman Bowl.

I miss sneaking in a beer bong and using it in the Rally Room over and over and over. Can't do that in TCF Stadium. By the way, the Rally Room was the best kept Metrodome secret, IMO.

I miss the student tailgating at the dome. not gonna lie it was a hell of a lot more fun to go downtown to tailgate than to jump around on a bunch of in-f'n-flatables!

Was this also known as the Maroon Saloon? Tipsy and I spent a number of halftimes in there.

So many bad memories...Wisconsin fumbled snap on punt, Northwestern Hail Mary, Michigan comeback. On the other side, I loved being able to buy beer there (who knows how this will go at TCF).

I also miss the student tailgating opportunities. THat was always a huge party. YOu would grab a case on campus, take the bus over, and party it up in the lots. Everyone had flippy cup going, all the students were there. Was a lot of fun.

Basically the only thing anyone misses is the drinking and the fact that during the heart of the Mason era we won more than we lost. I don't miss anything. It was a lousy place to see a game and it lumped gopher football into something you couldn't differentiate from every other event in the dome.

I walked out after the 55-0 debacle with stupid drunk iowa fans cursing at me..... with a smile on my face. I knew i'd never have to go through another gopher game at that hell hole.

This is exactly what I was referring to. It is quite ironic but this aspect (a very important one) has been lost in the move back to campus. For students, it should be the other way around.
