How does this program get meaningfully more NIL money for Medved?

To be frank, win more games. Gopher basketball has/had a large bandwagon following. He won't get it before then.

I also had the same question about University support in the past and have asked the same question. As far as direct translation to wins over the last twenty or so years for Gopher basketball the answer is probably be willing to sweep things under the rug (Royce White, Reggie Lynch, etc.). The practice facility was added, the Barn is the Barn, are admission issues even a thing. With Nil those things matter even less now. Getting a real coach was lingering for a while but I think they've done that.

Beer tent outside Football locker room?

Apparently $14 million rosters are what it takes to be competitive

Find a billionaire that doesn't hate the ridiculous direction of the university itself and Minneapolis. Good luck.
It's not like the U receives $300-400M a year in donations...

I have the same question. I think that line of thinking is a bit outdated. New football stadium, practice facilities are in line with most other programs. As we've seen across the country, NIL is the #1 factor. Indiana just won a National Championship in football with a crappy stadium and crappy practice facility. Their coach was originally hired at a below average salary.
I have no idea about Indiana's practice facility, but their stadium is actually pretty nice (definitely underrated).

Insanity. What are we doing NCAA/college basketball?

How about paying $6M per year to a "college" player? My interest level in "college" basketball has been added to the Endangered Species list:

Nikola Kusturica, a 17 year old Serbian phenom is heading to UCLA, 2 years 12 million. This kid will be a top pick in a couple of years. Shades of Kukoc and Bodiroga. Averaging 20pts a game currently in FIBA under 17 World Cup.

RJ Luis JR never actually played pro ball vs someone like the Wisconsin PG who has actually played four years in the top Australian pro league the NBL. Which is more of a profesional basketball player going to an NCAA team.

Thanks for the link....fun listen with Hurley. 20 some teams at $18 to $24 million for roster construction and to have a chance you need $14 or $15 million. And we think Minnesota is at half that with $7 or $8M? And Coyle is patting himself on the back that we are competitive in our amount of money to spend in football and basketball? And we wonder why Niko isn't getting any guys who averaged double figure points at a DI college? And no wonder why PJ is trying to sign 35 high school kids versus using the portal.

Focus on bringing in the best students and providing a quality competitive education. Not letting in everyone that makes them feel good about "making a difference"
That's exactly we are doing, back when your boy Bonin was attending they let any old retard in to the general program with a GED, but hey I get it man brown people scare you

Win big (a couple Sweet 16s in the next 4-5 years), and then it wouldn't hurt if volleyball and men's hockey, specifically, take a steep nosedive.

You responded to common sense with race baiting. Good grief- he is exactly right. Present a quality education, without woke politics, to the best students you can get. It is pure bigotry for you to say those students have to be white. Brown people are plenty smart. Let us all compete. Competition wins.

Now back to NIL- the subject of this thread. Medved is going to win with what he can get- then he will get more NIL. I have confidence in him doing this and I think a lot of people in town are getting there as well.
