All Things 2025-2026 Minnesota Timberwolves Offseason Thread

The veteran minimum.

Big miss by Connely imo. How in the world does Denver beat us for him? And if Connely wasn't interested.... that's a problem.

He is striking out with filling out the roster big time. Get LeBron and I take it back.
Spot on as usual

Bagley has bounced through 5 franchises in 8 seasons, including Washington twice. There's probably a reason for that.

What do you see on the market that you really want that’s an option?
It's like heading over to Baskin Robbins and all they have left is garlic or oyster flavored ice cream.

I was hoping that Connelly would figure out a way to roll an extra move into the Randle deal but it appears that will be nearly impossible.

You put Gary Payton in the same sentence with one of the greatest basketball players ever🤯??

Malone isn’t in the same zip code either (although at least he was MVP); he also only averaged 13.2 his last season in LA, because he was cooked - while your new king was just named 2nd team All-NBA🥳

False equivalency BS - your specialty Gary - I’ve rechristened you after typing an even bigger expert opinion than Bradley is a HOFer🤦‍♂️

Thats not quantifiable at this juncture - at least you didn’t stoop to telling me the Wolves would have a better chance with a scarecrow at the 4 it someone who can’t play D - I’m guessing even you can figure out which is McDaniels and TSJ🤣

I hope Bron signs with the Wolves as there will be some form of bet betwixt us, otherwise I’m going to have to break out my old friend, the Shine box whenever you post anything Wolves related🤠

The franchise that knows him best didn't want him back, presumably at the vet minimum he's offering everybody else. That's all you need to know.

How much does goalpost moving pay Gary?

Gary, are you one of the foremost experts in your field?

Denver is as Fd as the wolves are. Had to be for min

We’re sunk - the dream is dead🤷‍♂️. Philly is a great option - joining three other AS level players and competing in the east?

The great thing about his ring chasing is it further separates him from Kobe (5 rings in 7 tries - one team) and the 🐐 (6 out of 6 - one team) vs. 4 out of 10 with three teams.

Rings don't determine greatness, and Bryant is inferior to James in almost every way. Jordan and James are superior players.

I don’t know if one can look at what the lakers are doing and say it looks like they’re succeeding in the offseason to this point

Or, no so fast my friend -

Agent Rich Paul explains LeBron James’ Lakers exit, reveals potential destinations

We were mentioned in the article - see bolded text.
This is probably a Seantrell Henderson level of interest, but we’re desperate🤷‍♂️

For a few weeks after Season 23 ended, LeBron James was “80 percent sure” he would return to the Los Angeles Lakers, he told longtime friend and sports agent Rich Paul.
Obviously that didn’t hold, and now the NBA’s all-time leading scorer is again the league’s most attractive and tantalizing free agent.

Speaking on his “Game Over” podcast with Max Kellerman, Paul said that when James was sure he wanted to continue playing but not with the Lakers, he challenged his most famous client with one question: What did he want most as he entered his 24th NBA season?

“The answer was happiness,” Paul said.

During the episode, Paul discussed several potential destinations for James on a whiteboard. The Philadelphia 76ers were prominently listed, as were the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets and a few other teams on the outer edges.

In a twist, Paul said if the Knicks hadn’t won the title, “there would be no board. He’d be going to the Knicks.” It’s unlikely James will sign with them, but Paul said the only thing that would need to happen is for Jalen Brunson to call.

“He would have to pick up the phone and say it’s no issue with me with you joining,” Paul said.

Paul also pointed to James’ hometown of Cleveland as a serious contender, citing familiarity with the organization, Gilbert family and team president Koby Altman, as well as long-standing relationships with people within the organization, such as assistant general manager Brandon Weems.

“Brandon Weems, who I call basically like LeBron’s brother, is a big feather in the Cavs’ cap,” the sports agent said.

From a roster perspective, while Paul said it’s “nothing against James Harden,” James would have loved to play with the Clippers’ Darius Garland, whose game he admires, similar to that of another player, the Sixers’ Tyrese Maxey.

“LeBron loves Maxey,” Paul said.

He added that the Sixers’ recent acquisition of Jaylen Brown makes them more attractive as a potential destination. James is also familiar with Sixers president of basketball operations Mike Gansey, whom he played high school basketball against, and Jameer Nelson, who is a new addition to Philadelphia’s front office. They also discussed how LeBron could help develop standout rookie VJ Edgecombe.

The Heat also remains in play due to James’ previous tenure with the team and familiarity with the organization. Another rarely discussed option would be the Timberwolves. Paul cited the ownership group, the possibility of playing with Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball and the defensive support of Rudy Gobert and Jaden McDaniels.

Paul said that playing in Golden State with Steph Curry and Draymond Green, and the way the Lacob family has built a winning organization, stood out, too.

Throughout the podcast, Paul also said the Nuggets, Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs were part of broader league-wide discussions. With the Dallas Mavericks, Paul said many factors outside of basketball were part of the potential equation, in addition to roster evaluation.

Despite Paul’s comments on the podcast, no final decision had been made regarding James’ next team.

Sometimes the UTUBE gods intervene.

You can see who the Alpha is in this interview and why he’s won 5 rings in 7 tries, as his little brother looks on

That's like applying a bandaid after a beheading and hoping for the best. As of now, it certainly appears that PF is going to be a weak spot all season.

From a positive perspective, I would happily add a franchise PG in exchange for a downgrade at PF every day of the week. It seems that McDaniels is going to be playing out of position a lot this year, though.

Wasn’t aware of it, but Trey Lyles agent is Rich Paul. The same agent for LeBron.

Used to be his agent according to what I just read.

I'm surprised he is only 30. I thought at least 34. Boring pickup no matter what.
Oh, ok. Much less interesting.

Seen this. Probably outdated.

Kobe isn't even a top 10 player ever.

Kobe isn't even a top 10 player ever.
From your subjective perspective - simply an opinion like mine🤦‍♂️.

Did you play competitive sports, at least in HS?
I have found many fans who never competed don’t understand that winning is what matters because they haven’t put their blood, sweat and tears into competing.

Are you still in your 40s?
Have found youngsters are more impressed in stats than in winning, which makes more sense for many as they age.

Not an interrogation, but trying to ascertain where your bias may come from.

Bagley to me, would be perfect playing with the 2nd unit. Need a scorer down low. Shannon is it for some scoring off the bench right now.
I think we are going with lineups of C and shooters/cutters or twin towers. I don't expect to see hardly any traditional PFs on the court next season.

It's hard for me to get to a list of 10 players who are all better than Kobe.

The strange thing to me is that I think the younger generations kind of underappreciate Shaq. He was the best player on those teams and the most dominant player in the era between MJ and Lebron.

Shaq could've been near the best ever. He was a 4.0 talent student who settled for a 3.7.

I'd put everyone below ahead of Kobe for sure. The list isn't in a specific order for rankings.

Jordan
James
Abdul Jabbar
Johnson
Chamberlain
Duncan
Bird
Curry
Russell
Olajuwon
O'Neal
KG
