Guessing Texas Tech didn't expect the level of backlash they got for the decision to bring in Sorsby.

Sure it hit a point where they decided winning football games wasn't worth this level of hassle and negative PR so they told Sorsby that he needed to go explore his NFL options.

There are several dozen states where that is an option. Some also have NFL teams such as Illinois, New Jersey, Pennsylvania & Tennessee for example.
