UCONN lost to Merrimack. I think that knocks Augustana out of the tournament but not positive. If Raboin is truly no longer a candidate we’ll know for sure soon.
 

The only thing I know is this. 35% will like the new coach.
35% won't like the new coach.
30% will be undecided at this point to see how he does.

Maybe the 30% is accurate since so many gopher fans and season ticket holders are old folks that have no idea what's out there.

But I think the split of the remaining 70% can vary wildly between Barr/Raboin and Larson/Potulny.

Because SoDak is really known for the high quality of their educational system.

Larson - 50%
Potulny - 45%
Raboin - 3%
Rest of the field - 2%

Yep, that should do if for their season. But I still don't know if we'll hear right away. And I think that's okay. This board is a case study in human behavior, (with a few lab rats thrown in of course). Many posters spit fire and demand that Coyle try to hit the home run. Be aggressive. To most of us, that means going after an established successful coach, whose team is still in the hunt for a title. We say we understand that this might have to demand confidentiality for a coach of a team whose season is still going. Yet when we don't hear anything about discussions with those types of targets we freak and assume Coyle is an idiot.

Here is what I think is going on with this search.

Coyle is being aggressive and he has reached out to Fersch and/or Carle (their agents). There is interest there, and at least one of them has said "let's talk when my season is over." One of them is the top target. He has also reached out to Raboin's agent. Raboin is also interested. Coyle has discussion with Raboin' agent, who asks if Raboin is the #1 target. Coyle says that he cannot commit to that. Raboin (through his agent) says "come back to me once you think I am your guy." Augustana AD talks to Raboin and says "you need to reaffirm your commitment to our school, while wour season is still going. Raboin gives it the old coach speak... "right now, I'm planning to be here for the long term." Meanwhile, Coyle knows he just can't wait around for the NCAA tournament to end. So he interviews Laron and Potulny. This is only prudent as you never know what direction these things will take. The media hears about all of the above except Fersch and Carle, which are very close to the vest. They interpret that all to mean that Raboin has turned it down and Potulny and Larson are now the "top targets."

The above search scenario makes way more sense than the idea that we had to settle for our 4th or 5th choice. The longer this goes without an announcement, the more likely it is that the top target is a coach whose team is still in the tourney. Did we really expect that, if Fersch or another top coach was going to be the hire, that we'd hear an announcement by now? I think this thing has a long way to go.

Ha! All I am saying is that we should not just assume that Coyle is not doing exactly what many on this board want him to do. We'll see how it ends up. Not sure about the police incident. I am from well northeast of there. 'Crosby' is a moniker partly in honor of a pretty good hockey player, not the town.

Maybe, maybe, Fersch has interest as Minnesota is definitely a bigger pond. I think less than 0% chance that Carle would come to MN. He's got a perfect setup in Denver and could be coach in waiting for Avalanche.

The never say never voice inside of me agrees 100%…Fresch would be an absolute home run.

I'm guessing Potulny. No inside info other than in my gut. Coyle is probably just busy getting his Vegas plans in place to announce.
 

If it ends up being Larson or Potulny the question I want answered is did Coyle actually run a national search for the best possible coach or was it limited to a small pool from the start?

Not what I would prefer either. Just think we are really jumping to conclusions way too early.

Agreed. If he limited it to these two... that is inexcusable. I just refuse to believe that's what he did. If it is one of these two, I'm not sure we'll ever find out about the details of the search though.
 


Well the same source who told me Bob was getting fired confirmed along with a couple alumni that it has just been the three finalists. Something would have to drastically change in the next day for us to start actually reaching out nationally. Everything is going exactly how the reports say.

It’s time to start realizing Coyle does not care or know anything about hockey.
 

Christ. Ziemer Mooney and all the Cullens will be massive risks. He is worsening the disaster.

Who's the 3rd- Robein(sp?)?
 


If Raboin turned it down the offer was too weak and our money strapped U can't effing call him back with a way upped offer.
