Future Gopher Coach Discussion

What a disastrous outcome for this program if we end up with either Larson or Potulny.

From extreme excitement to absolute demoralization in just 48 hours if the worst case scenario rumor has any legs to it.

How was the deal with the new coach not done prior to Bob leaving? If you wind up with option 3 or 4 that’s a terrible result.
If the end result is us hiring potulny or Larson by early next week, then it’s because coyle made a snap decision, didn’t do his diligence, didn’t do a national search, and has zero business hiring hockey coaches

I obviously have no inside knowledge, but I find it inconceivable that inquiries weren't made to Carle and Western's coach through their agents. I also believe they were told to pound sand - no interest. Carle and Fersch aren't changing college teams. NHL maybe.

Brutal job by Coyle so far… but I feel bad for him, tough to recruit a coach to live in Minneapolis right now

Wow. Just. Wow. I knew it was bad but I didn't think it was this bad.

You’re right I’m sure people around the country are stoked to move to a suburb of Minneapolis after the events of the past 6 years!
The crap is spreading in Minnesota and it won't turn back around. I can't imagine what elementary school classes look like. It's too late, Minnesota is lost. Everyone will keep moving outwards, Waconia will boom, but it'll inevitably face the same fate.

Plus, no NIL and apparently not willing to open the checkbook.

You sound like an ignorant hillbilly. I live in Minneapolis and absolutely love it. I’ve never once felt unsafe in the least. Minneapolis is rated at or near the top of the best large cities to live in nationwide year after year.

Get a damn clue.

Ya because they overtax like crazy and give handouts to all the lazy fraudsters

I love that you love it there.

But you should go ask people in any other city what their perception of Minneapolis is right now.

The highest homicide rate in Minneapolis in the last 6 years was 22.4 per 100,000 residents in 2021. In Montgomery, AL it was 42 per 100,000. In Birmingham, AL it was 65.7. All have dropped since with Minneapolis much lower than the other two by about half.

What's your point?

You just used Mpls in a sentence with Birmingham and Montgomery lmao

Minneapolis is historically one of the safest large cities in America. bonin21 is just a hayseed who reads headlines. There’s a reason he was banned from GPL.

On the coaching search, I refuse to believe Raboin would turn down the chance to coach Minnesota to stay at frickin Augustana. Sorry but not happening. Everyone calm down. Believing every rumor will drive you crazy.

You better start believing

U of Alabama is in Tuscaloosa for the record lol but the difference is that university puts its money where its mouth is and funds its athletic department appropriately

I’m not saying Minneapolis is awful, but if you think the rest of the country thinks it’s a great destination right now you are lying to yourself

If that’s true then we’re better off without him and we dodged a bullet. A great coach should want the pressure of coaching at an elite program. If he wants to stay at Augustana over Minnesota then fine. I still don’t believe it though it makes no sense whatsoever.
