***OFFICIAL RUTGERS VS MINNESOTA BIG TEN TOURNAMENT IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

lets keep season going

weird to say it's been fun season, but watching this team prep and play and outright compete (yes we did get killed not too long ago) has been fun

And the board is much more tolerable
I don't know if this is weird or not, but if you objectively/statistically compare this year with last...

Conference record
2024-25 7-13
2025-26 8-12

Conference place
2024-25 12th
2025-26 11th

KenPom
2024-25 low 80s
2025-26 low 70s

...it's not that huge of a difference. But this has been so much more impressive and enjoyable to watch. I suppose that has to do with beating ranked teams, but it also has to do with the style and competence of the basketball. There are probably a dozen things one could point to, but the bottom line is that last year there was despair, and this year there's hope.

We all see the light at the end of the tunnel (@USAF included).

Wild inconsistent season with MN 3-4 vs AP/USA top 25, yet losing games to both of the worst two teams in the conference. When the shots are falling and the Gophers effectively defend, they are very enjoyable to watch! Its beautiful basketball. I'll hang onto the IND/MSU/UCLA/IOWA wins and court storming, along with solid halves vs PUR/ILL/MICH/WIS as a sign that when the roster gets built full and healthy, MN will have some momentum and be a legitimate top third team. Go out and get Rutgers, one game at a time.

All 10 players are above free throw line extended when we have the ball. I guess Rutgers has decided to defend the 3 tonight, huh?

Shinholster has played really well on the defensive end tonight. Hope he’s back next year.
Inside sources say he loves it here. I hope he comes back too. Great defensive effort tonight.

I don't know why people keep conjuring this idea that Shinholster may be leaving the team......
Certainly don't want him too. But if they bring in Evans or someone similar and Willis comes back, he may not see much playing time next year.

These guys flop around like USC. Baiting for fouls

He'd be a role player. Much like this year. Sure....if he thinks he'll be getting starter minutes next year.....but not sure why he'd think that'd be the case.
