Adding guys mid season

Filling a brand new $175 million arena that is five games old at a 66% capacity isn't quite the brag you think it is. That is quite frankly embarrassing. Thank god you played Saint John's to get the attendance up. The Johnnies fans showed up to help up your average.

Who is bragging? Comparing it to the Power 4 Big Ten team who hired a good coach… and still can’t get people in the seats believe me I have been there twice.. hard to brag about anything basketball related if you are
comparing it to the Gopher’s.. let’s be honest… NEXT

Yes and if the Gophers were not scared and played UST the U would have there highest attendance of the year by 5K… but they are not smart enough

The Euro that Illinois picked up will not play this year. Although technically he could, the plan is for him to practice and get stronger and then play next season. Kind of like a redshirt.

So they should be selling out? What’s a good number?? 400% increase in season ticket sales from last year.. in the first year of being eligible for the tournament… worse case scenario the have an Athletic department that spends money… a great facility . and a generous donor.. even if they draw 2500 and the Gophers are scared of them…

So does this mean that any player who didn't find a new home during the off season is just sitting out there available for teams to bring in mid-season?

We all know this is going to get exploited like hell over the next few seasons if teams are not stopped from expanding their roster mid season.

Everything else about college athletics is a mess right now.....may as well just add another item to the list.

we've officially jumped the shark

Absolutely ridiculous. These players, agents, and coaches are slowing destroying college basketball. It’s all about the money now. Everything that was so great about college basketball is being ripped apart.

I predict you’ll see a massive downturn in attendances across the board in the future. The diehard fans will eventually stop caring.

Slowly? I feel like this is all moving at warp speed.

But who's going to make sure these mid-season transfer's grades will transfer to their new school? And also make sure their GPA is up to the new school's standards........never mind! ;)

I guess it's getting to be anything goes. Should go after Jorgensen while he's home for Christmas. He's leading Colorado State in scoring and is a Minneapolis kid.

I'm already there.

We need a general manager. Can the Wild GM pull double duty? I don't want Kwesi or Derek Falvey.
In Falvey's defense he is working under some ridiculous budget restrictions with owners that have no interest in building a winning team.

On the subject of adding guys mid-season I wonder if Niko is looking into it at all. Going to be really tough to survive the Big Ten season with just 7 regulars.

Obviously if we get Viahola and/or Omot back here at some point depth becomes less of a concern but no clue if there has been any info on when either or those guys might be able to play.

I'd have to think/hope so.

Obviously Niko will have a much better feeling about the status of Vaihola and Omot than we do. But attempting to go through B1G play with a 7 man rotation would be suicide

Minnesota is not scared to play St Thomas. They took care of the Dakota schools at the same level with ease. Only year one for Nikko's crew. There has been DII teams with better attendance than St Thomas.

They have admitted not wanting to play them.. Ben Johnson pretty much said so I give him credit he was up front.. Coyle pretty much the same…Niko tried to pretend to want to play… exhibitions.. first game in the new arena when Niko knew Army had been set for a year… comical.. so you are wrong..

Agree on attendance a work in progress..

Isn't that Gopher Athletics compareed to most of the rest of the BIG and D1 teams as a whole?
He might be a great GM for the Gophers with his vast experience dealing with the Twins Ownership.

My question/worry would be $$. Seems unlikely we just have some NIL just laying around. Certainly seems like if you do there are plenty of free agents just waiting to sign
