2025 Transfer Portal Watch

Good recruiting is nice to have. Solid coaching is important. But in the end, it’s all straight cash homey! 💵💵💵

In another year, two at most, any university that’s doesn’t treat its athletic teams with the same operating philosophy as professional sports franchises could just as well move down to D2. Not anything that I would enjoy seeing happen.

wo whos got a list of guys we have been in contact with, visited, ect???

i feel like Niko was waiting on the Evans decisions, so im thinking hes going to lock in on a couple of guards here and we will hear about at least 1 guard signing in the next couple days

One thing I love about the roster so far is that most of the new guys have multiple years of eligibility available. No guarantees guys stick around more than one year these days but at least having the option is nice to see.
I also like that they seem to fit a pattern of player that Niko has succeeded with previously. He’s not going what every player he wants, but hopefully he gets players who fit.

There's probably more but:

Bryce Lindsay
Wes Enis
Jadin Booth
Chansey Willis
Brendan Hausen
Garry Clark

I think the big thing is the people who panic when there isn't immediate news or every time they see a player sign need to take a deep breath and realize that there are still new players going into the portal everyday and a ton of unsigned players.

It is all fun to track but everyone should wait until the dust settles before making assumptions about how the roster is going to look next season.
if we don't sign a guy i never heard of until i found out we expressed interested in, I am going to kill myself

At the same time we were reported to have been in contact with Lindsay, we were reported to have contacted Gavin Walsh, a soph forward from Binghamton who led his conference in rebounds per game. Lindsay and Walsh are listed as uncommitted as of today.

right, a lot like Vaihola, guys we have no idea about, and just like that we see they committed

of that group.....
PG's-Willis/Booth
CG-Enis
SG-Linsday/Hausen

is a Willis, Enis, and 1 of Lindsay/Hausen asking too much??
how about 1 of Willis/Enis & 1 of Lindsay/Hausen
Booth coming off a blown knee, not sure what he is looking for, but come in as the 3rd ball handler?

Garry Clark would seem like a great guy to have to split at the 4 with JCJ

im just spit balling here....and if we end up with 1 of all those guys is probably more likely....but fun to think about in this never fast enough environment that is the transfer portal!

I just saw something posted on my browser that the Gophers are in contact with Jacari Lane of North Alabama. He's a junior point or combo guard. He was first team Atlantic Sun each of the past two years and was rookie of the year as a freshman. He averaged 17 points, 4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. He shot .406 from three and .791 from the line this past season. He had a 19.9 Player Efficiency Rating.

Shoot I didn't read anything about Booth's knee. Just saw his transfer tape highlights and loved how silky smooth he was. Maybe that DOES drop his price and he can be a nasty spot up shooter.

Odds are probably higher that we don't land ANY over landing all of them lol. I'd love at least two tho. One of Booth/Enis and Willis/Hausen.

I think Lindsay is looking bigger than lil ol MN

That's exactly the point. Last year's team should have been NIT material. In fairness, Mike Mitchell's injury derailed them early, and he never regained form.
I would add Frank the Tank's injury to that as well. He wasn't an all star at the end of the year but I thought he was solid. Would've been nice to have that all year. And the coulda woulda shoulda that surrounds Tyler Cochran. But, I'm pretty sure other teams dealt with injuries last year as well

Maybe...but I think a bit of consternation and worry because we really aren't seeing any tangible benefits yet is not that crazy of a thing to see. I mean people keep preaching patience and I am all for it, but the same people seem to move the goal posts about when it is ok to start to worry.

How do you think people would be reacting if Johnson was still the coach and this was where we were at? For better or worse until Nico shows he has broken that pattern the PTSD can't really subside.

I am not saying we should be freaking out or anything like that, and I trust that Nico will put together a solid roster that he will be able to coach (and we will all enjoy watching) but there is also some copium going around too. Until Nico shows he can bring in some talent I think people have every right to be skeptical.

If we’re not supposed to be freaking out and you trust Nico will have a solid roster what was the point of your rant

First of all it wasnt a rant...it was a response to a post by a poster I tend to usually agree with.

Second, my personal feelings are one thing. How other people feel is another. I am not freaking out or worried but I can understand why others might be. That is the point. MNVCGUY was talking about posters in general around here, I was responding to that.

It is April 10th...I am nowhere near the point that I would question what is happening. That doesn't mean other posters dont have the right to.

I'd be skeptical of any "Nico". Sounds made up.

This is the main difference between Niko and Ben. Niko has a system, a type of player he wants, and he will recruit the best players we can land to fit that system. It may not be immediately successful, but it adds up to success over time.

I’m on board for immediately successful, too.
