The NCAA has opened an investigation into No. 2 Michigan over possible rule-breaking around in-person scouting of opponents

What “jump”??

The guy dropped off and Athan overthrew the route, right to the guy.

Maybe I’m misremembering

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but knowing the play call would help a defender big time on jumping a sideline route.
Yeah if you know where to be... don't even have to trail the WR much at all.

To be clear I don't know that it happened on that play, AK's accuracy has been wonky so it's impossible to tell.

For the Twitter thing, when you post the link, if you change out the 'x' for 'twitter' it will embed correctly. Very annoying though.

This, and there’s also a third party website you can use that works every time. If you change the start of the link from x.com/twitter.com to fxtwitter.com it will always embed.

It's how you steal the signs that might be against the rules.

Theory is they sent in person scouts to other games, apparently you can't do that.

If you figure it out gameday nobody cares.

Not all that different than baseball as far as stealing signs goes.
Yeah, issue seems to be them potentially sending people to opponent games to figure out the signs which is against the rules.

Trying to steal/figure out signs on gameday is just part of the gamesmanship that goes on.

I actually watch the opposing team's signs out of curiosity during the game using binoculars.

I recall Jim staring right at me at one point during the Michigan game...

First play here.

He overthrew the route. The Mich corner was outside the receiver. And it was thrown well after he came out of his break. You wouldn’t need to know anything about the play call to make that play.

Seems like a bunch of people don't like Harbaugh and want him to move to NFL because they can no longer beat him. Mom, that kid over there called me names and...and

I remember Sid talking about how the Gophers needed new practice facilities, because he was concerned someone was scouting their outdoor practices from us across the street.

Now, I thought that was a little bit silly, but if Jim was pulling something against Rutgers…

It's a somewhat odd type of violation. it may seem picky, but a rule is a rule, and if a team gets caught violating the rules, there should be consequences.

more details from ESPN:

The NCAA does not have rules specifically against stealing signs but does prohibit in-person advance scouting of opponents and has bylaws prohibiting unsportsmanlike activities.

According to a report by Yahoo Sports, Michigan allegedly had people attending games of future opponents as well as possible College Football Playoff opponents to gather information on signs used to call plays on offense and defense.

A source confirmed to ESPN that in-person scouting is the focus of the NCAA investigation.

If true, the Wolverines would have violated NCAA Bylaw 11.6.1, which states: "Off-campus, in-person scouting of future opponents (in the same season) is prohibited."

Multiple Big Ten coaches this offseason were advocates of exploring helmet communication as a way to generally better protect signs, a source told ESPN's Pete Thamel. Potential NCAA rule changes, however, were tabled until after this season.

Schiano would have given PJ a head’s up if he thought Michigan was successfully stealing signs, right? If PJ knew or suspected that Harbaugh had a network out there that was very effectively stealing signs, PJ and our own Harbaugh would have changed up signs for the game or, if that was too cumbersome, would have gone to a huddle or something.🤷🏼‍♂️

This sounds worse than the time Harbaugh bought the recruit a cheeseburger.

I wouldn't assume that. We could end up in a dead heat for a Motor City Bowl birth!

We totally would have won if they didn't know all our calls!
