Bret Bielema after this game: "I've lost all respect sorry this is absolutely rigged for money or ratings. I won't be silent. I just saw it live"

I’m not saying there weren’t bad calls, because there were for both teams. It’s just a petty for Bielema to spout off when there were also other reasons for the loss.
Ya, it would be better left unsaid, I agree. But, sometimes you gotta rescue your team, be in their corner. Probably better comments for the locker room. At the least, on Monday you point out all the things that would of made a difference other than the refs.
BB is a no tact guy. And I didn't see the game but based on score, he had his team ready to play at undefeated Michigan. It hurts bad to feel it was stolen from you.

That's disgusting. Michigan WR is blocking the defender up the field and the Curl route becomes open because of this. Bielama isn't wrong. Big 10 referees and Kevin Warren does nothing zero about it. This league has little to no integrity when it comes to protecting Michigan and OSU.

Funny how Bielema actually shared that to his official Twitter account. The fine might be similar to the cost of a middle class house.

What’s it like actually believing in crap like this? What has Warren done to make the BIG corrupt? I’m a long time season ticket holder of football, basketball, and hockey. I just don’t believe the deck is stacked against us. Stop playing the “little guy” card. It’s an even playing field and we need to step.
I would agree referees are ethical and go into the game without bias at almost all levels.
But, you think 104,000 people and Harbaugh can't intimidate a guy on occasion?
100% home teams can often get the benefit of calls and non calls....just human nature.
Refs joke about getting to their car safely after a game...it's in their head and it results in hesitation with some guys.
Don't know who pays the refs but in high school the home school pays the refs...another subtle factor...you don't want "that conversation" from the guy paying you to pick up your check.
All subtle stuff, it adds up.
Has BB said stuff to refs over the acceptable line today or in prior games? Nobody is supposed to carry grudges but these decisions happen very fast.
Just saying it is human guys reffing...they miss cals innocently and they miss calls due to hesitation stemming from consequences they aren't willing to hear about in the moment.
It's not a perfect science but it is not intentionally corrupt either imo

This is a well known copypasta. It’s from ayesha curry during the 2016 NBA finals

unless bret just happened to say the exact same thing

I know it’s off topic but as a high school AD… I want to chime in. I’ve never talked to a ref about a call, nor do I know of any of my colleagues because we are all begging for refs to show up. Also, majority of refs are either paid upon their arrival or it is more common to be paid by direct deposit now.

Fat Bret's teams have always had a reputation for taking incredibly stupid penalties at inopportune times.

There's a $5 fine for whining. Put your money in the jar.

Illinois beat Michigan. End of story. Sorry B1G. That’s how it goes.

Remember the overturned targeting against ohio State with Leidner playing??
I'll never cry & beg for weak-ass targeting penalties on hits that caused no harm. I know Gopher fans were outraged...but I hate most targeting penalties.

But yes, the games are absolutely rigged. Fact. For instance, there's no question that the Big Ten wanted Michigan to win.

I was watching live and I was like, that looked like a blatant pick. TV didn’t even show the replay or comment on it. You know damn well Blackledge saw it.

Things could have changed :) half of my experiences were before the internet. Also, often we'd have the same pair a couple times a year and over several years you'd get to know them pretty well.
Again, I never felt a referee intentionally was biased but I did feel they were influenced by circumstances on occasion.
I can echo referees are in short supply, and times have changed.

Pass needs to be caught behind the LOS. WR caught it at least 2-3 yards beyond. Complete OPI. Watched it live; said it at the time. But not surprised it wasn’t called; especially when thrown toward the MI sideline. Force official to make the call.

One play doesn’t define a game. IL could have locked it up other times, but very poor non-call.

He's not wrong, Kevin Warren turned a corrupt B1G and made it far worse.
He's desperately trying to compete with the SEC and that means shitting on all the little guys of the league. Minnesota has been the bottom end of this many times and it will not get better, especially under Kevin Warren.

It's a league of o$u, scUM and ped state.

So no moon landing?

Easier to blame the refs than yourself for the implosion that cost his team the west- epic choke job.

Thanks. The “pick up the check after the game” thing isn’t a thing anymore.

Very glad that this thread started with a quote that is clearly not something he said. Gopherhole—never change

Funny. Though, even if Bret did say that, I'm pretty sure the video would be memory-holed somewhere by ABC/Disney.

Absolutely correct. Warren needs to fire the Director of officials tomorrow. Find someone who will find new officials (not old men) who are young enough to keep up with the game and understands the rules.
You assume Warren sees a problem.

Watching Final Drive they highlighted several questionable plays including a non-catch that was ruled a catch to set up an easier game-winning FG. I’d guess there were many others given the pitiful state of P5 officiating.

I hope TCU lands the final CFP spot to avoid a potential embarrassment. I get the ratings for next week angle but this stuff gets old.

Welcome to coaching for a nobody in the big ten, Bert. Have a seat at our table.
This is God's honest truth.

In the NFL, when a down and out team finally breaks through, everyone celebrates you.

In College Football, when a team wins a game that they're "not supposed to", the powers that be curse your name under their breath.

I would argue that officiating gotten worse due to younger less experienced officials climbing the ranks too fast.

He lost his mom and likely had an emotional week. I’ll give him a pass on this. He was right there and had Michigan beat.
