and all its extensions due to negotiation problems with parent company Disney. that means all ABC affiliates as well. I have dropped DirectTV and Dish for this in the past and it looks like YTTV is going to lose my business this time. Bowl season is a crappy time to do this to their subscribers.

Any recommendations for what I should do now? I know I'm not alone.

I have Hulu, and it's raising the subscription cost and adding in access to Disney+ and ESPN+. I currently pay for ESPN+ so I'm not too upset about it.

In the same boat. I've really liked YTTV so far but this sucks.

There's always the option of taking the $15/mo YTTV is giving back and doing ESPN's streaming service (Disney wants you to do this badly) but that's frustratingly fragmented for the customer.

Just wait until you can't get the Fox networks including BTN a year from now on Hulu when the other content companies strike back at Disney.

The Streaming Wars are about to become the most anti-consumer trend in a long time. Eventually the public will put their foot down, and someone who aggregates all of these content conglomerates will eventually win. (like a cable provider! but probably Amazon)

Yeah, I think I'll let future bfriedrichs10 worry about that one.

I still think DIRECTV is the best and cheapest way to get all of the sports you want to watch.

Everytime I add up what it will cost me to stream all the things I want, I end up sticking with DIRECTV.

Yea, it does suck.been happy with YTTV, even after dropping local Fox sports (Bally), but won't stay now or fragment with Disney + as someone else mentioned. Thing of FUBU. Anyone have it?

I know I probably pay too much (I have Spectrum), but I like having one remote control to watch everything I need. My sons keep saying "Dad you overpay to watch TV!" But when I go to their houses I have to sift through several remotes and get detailed instructions on what to do just to watch a football game. Then I'll call them and ask "Hey did you watch the Wild game last night?" and they'll tell me no, because their provider dropped FSN/Bally. I pay my inflated Spectrum bill monthly and don't worry about a thing. Call me old and unwilling to change! I pay for the convenience. :)

I’ll opt for stick in the mud

Fubo has a 7 day free trial. I recommend trying that to get through the next week. It's possible youtube tv gets this figured out by then.

I get the Disney+ bundle (Disney+, ESPN+ and regular Hulu (with ads) and I pay roughly $15 a month for that service.

So if Hulu Live is adding that, I would personally think that $75 a month is a fair price. I currently pay more than that for a municipal cable TV system.

Looking at the channel lineup for Hulu Live, it has everything I watch except for AMC, so I would have to give up the Walking Dead or shell out for AMC+. I would also miss AXS TV and HD Net Movies, which I have on my cable system.

Unfortunately, when all of this shakes out, I suspect that all of the surviving streaming services will be charging just as much as the traditional cable TV providers.

It's not going to be a question of cost - it will come down to how you want to watch TV.

Just switched from YTTV to DirectTv Stream. Much more expensive however we get much more programming as well. Including Bally.

Corporate greed at its best. Money will eventually ruin college sports. Getting a camper is increasingly becoming more attractive.

Are you factoring in what you pay for internet into your price? My cable includes 500GB internet.

No, internet is separate. I live in a city with a population less than 5,000. They have a municipal tele-comm system with telephone, internet and cable TV service. Their internet is good - fiber to the home. they are planning to drop the traditional cable TV system and replace it with a streaming service - Southern Fiber-Net, out of Georgia - but the timetable got messed up by covid and supply-chain issues.

(disclaimer - I am a member of the city's Tele-Comm commission, so I actually help make decisions on what the city does with the system. That's the main reason why I keep the traditional cable TV service and haven't switched to a streaming service yet.)

Boom! No warning at all from DTTV until this morning. That in itself will make me drop them.

I did get an e-mail about a week ago from YTTV warning about this but figured they would work it out in the end. They still may, but.... Anyway, I hate cable boxes and stream everything so will probably try FUBU's free 7 day trial.

BB - Did look at DirectTV stream, but man, it is more expensive than cable, but you're right, it has everything too.

DirecTV may not be the cheapest, but it has Sunday Ticket and every sports network you can think of except PAC12. I'll gladly pay it and worry about saving $20 elsewhere.

If you get the normal satellite version of DTV, for the choice package you pay $70 a year for the first year, then it gets jacked up an additional $40-50 that second year of the contract. After the contract expires I have always been able to get my price down to the $70-80 range and keep it there. You'll likely have to pay more to stream everything you get at that price, which outside of one year, makes it the cheapest to me.

YTTV dropped ESPN with a quarter left in the NDSU/JMU playoff game last night right when the game was getting good. I now have Fubo.

I went to YTTV streaming from Xfinity 2-3 years ago because it was cheaper by > $50/mo. for what we watch and with the number of TVs we use, but that gap is closing fast.

We spend a lot of time in an RV where Dish portable satellite is the leader. If Dish could get its streaming platform to be competitive (it's not), that's where I'd by for all TV services.

I still have cable....because it's the easiest and most practical way to get everything that I want. Youtube TV was a real option up until recently. But no Bally....and now no ESPN? ABC is gone. I read rumors about NBC Universal having negotiation issues with Youtube as well. No thanks. What a headache.

YouTube will figure this out one way or the other. Without local ABC, ESPN channels their service is dead as people will flee to alternatives. The only question is how much the next rate increase will be, and how soon they reach an agreement. I’d guess within a week but hard to say.

Youtube TVs unlimited DVR feature is mostly seamless and much better than others. That’s a major selling point. Their streaming quality is also superior to some others we’ve tried. Thus, I hope they solve with with a minimal amount of pain. These squabbles are getting worse.

With the ease of switching streaming services I suppose shelling out for a month of FUBO isn’t the end of the world, for most bowl-watchers.

I would have stuck with Xfinity if not for them charging for every TV being used. We use 6 and sometimes 7 TVs. If I recall correctly, the HD boxes were roughly $15/mo and the shitty SD boxes were almost $10/mo and didn't get many HD nor premium channels. It's much more convenient to buy a streaming device for every TV and stream. If Xfinity (or DTV or Dish) would offer streaming services with the same cloud DVR and HD capabilities as the streaming companies and not force you pay for their crappy boxes, I'd still be a customer.

The unlimited DVR was the selling point for us. Fubo's 1000 hours isn't bad. I don't think anyone else comes close last time I looked.
