how many other times has this happened?

Did we in 2016 (I know we did for last game but did we for Nebraska game)
2014? I believe we did

any time under Mason? I don’t believe so because the critical games were always earlier in the season.

the gophers aren’t very good this year…but neither are Iowa and wisconsin.
if Ohio state beats Purdue, we don’t even need to beat Indiana to win the division.

Wisconsin is actually pretty good this year.
Iowa is too.

Minnesota still has to prove it belongs in the same sentence.

That’s just reality.

Wisconsin has gotten better and is no doubt the favorite.
Minnesota is currently in a four way tie for the top of the west and only need to win 2 of 3 to win the division provided it’s the correct 2.

Wisconsin is 24-0 on the road better than Illinois and lost to 3 ranked teams. We lost to Bowling Green and Illinois at home.
Wisconsin lost to a mediocre Penn state team.
have really struggled on offense.

have been improving and getting better which is why I started called wisconsin the favorite on Oct 9

Let's stop this looking ahead stuff. At this point in the season the only game that counts is the next one, and that's Iowa. I think the players had their eyes on the last three games when they took the field against Illinois. We saw how that turned out. It's Iowa or nothing right now.

For sure. Me thinking about something has an impact on the game.

Our D gives us a chance, but they can’t do it all.

we need a major leap forward from the other 2 units and if changes needed to be made make them now; this is a team and not individual sport

I will get whatever you are having this morning. Is it Sunday morning Bloody Mary with extra booze?

Four teams tied for 1st at this point in the season. Crazy!
Yup. It’s a fun season. A bunch of slightly avocet average teams battling it out.
Wisconsin defense is the best unit of the all the Os and Ds in the tie, so they are the favorite to me

Don’t need alcohol to look at standings. Don’t think the gophers win the division. That doesn’t mean they don’t control their own destiny

Iowa is pretty average. Don’t turn the ball over and you’re going to have a shot to win.

And if there is a 4-way tie at the end. The Big Ten tiebreaker rules are pretty straight forward. (Ha!)

This season was a complete waste of an extremely experienced O line, the best we’ve had in how long? As well as a complete waste of the best QB we’ve had in how long? One of the winningest QB’s in program history that Fleck’s hire at OC had absolutely no idea how to use or coach. Fleck’s hire at OC took a great group and regressed them to amazing lows.

We are looking at 7-5 at best and have a real shot at 6-6.
It depends on who shows up.

How did we beat Nebraska, then? Nebraska's record doesn't mean shit. They've played a brutal schedule, and all of their losses have been competitive. All of them.

And we beat them.

If that team shows up. We have a chance.

But yeah. There has to be massive head shaking going on, right now.

Probably in the minority, but think they can beat Iowa. Excited about the game. Now if they DO beat Iowa, I will get really excited.
We might as all get into this mindset, as early as we can this week.

Nothing is going to change. Not one iota.

Sanford is going to be OC, Tanner is going to be QB, and the game plan is largely going to be the same.

Fleck will never, in a million years, pull some big change right before the Iowa game. That's just not a thing.

Best we have had in a long time. I think the team would look different if we didn’t have 6 of our top 8 skill position guys miss time this year

So, the big reason for hope is that an inconsistent team will find a way to play consistently better in the two biggest games of the year.

OK.

If the Gophers were losing close, hard-fought games, that would be one thing. That's not happening.

When the Gophers lose, they stink up the joint.

So why should anyone believe that this Gopher team has what it takes to come up with their two best performances of the year in the two biggest games of the year?

I put the chances of the Gophers beating IA and WI - winning both games - at 25% tops.

Sorry, I just don't believe that this team - AND this coaching staff - has what it takes to pull it off.

You’re pretty negative for a guy who thinks there is a 1 in 4 chance the gophers are going to make the big ten title game with 3 to play

I don’t think it’s that high and i’m in a way better mood than you

Parlay all three
If I was going to parlay all 3 I would bet they finish 1-2. Beat either Iowa or Indiana, not sure which. Lose to wisconsin.
I don’t like that bet because I think Iowa is probably 50/50.
Indiana is probably 50/50. Why would I bet when I have no idea. That’s not a good parlay

The only bet I would make with confidence is wisconsin over Minnesota. And I might feel differently 2 weeks from

I'm worried Gophs will lose to a very bad Indy team. That's just reality.

I-O-W-A is beatable for once but being at Kinnick always has some adverse affect on the Visitor's offense no matter the team playing there. Have essentially 2 days to develop/field the game plan on offense, 2-3 more days to implement it, and travel on Friday. If there's blood in the water early, not good.

Back to yesterday, whatever was the offensive game plan needs to be burned first thing this morning.

On a metaphysical plane, it is clear that Mohammed Ibrahim was this team's star-level player this year. The football gods are toying with this team just like Zeus and Hera on the chess-board of Greek myth. Following this motif, it is ironic that it was an Achilles injury that took out our own Achilles coming into this season.

Back to I-O-W-A, hope we're not intimidated by the pink Visitor's locker room...

. I said last Sunday Illinois has a functional defense. I’m not sure Indiana does. I could be wrong but I think Minnesota will be able to score on Indiana.

I agree with that. They broke their losing streak yesterday but it certainly wasn't a dominating win. I think we have a pretty fair chance at Iowa. I think our chances against Wisconsin are pretty slim.

We played poorly in three games this season (Miami (OH), Bowling Green, and Illinois). The first primarily was because of shaky defense but the defense has played well in every game since so I don't think they are a problem to worry about (especially against an offense like Iowa that is still pretty so-so). The other two were due to poor offensive games but the offense played much better after Bowling Green until yesterday.
