SMU player apparently hit Jerry Kill with a helmet while celebrating after beating TCU

On purpose or wildly swinging? Either way its bad.

ol' jer' is a ball coach. it's who he is, it's in his blood. he turns boys into men and football is his vehicle. i imagine the young student athlete that hit jer' with a helmet doesn't realize the impact jer' has on the boys he coaches. otherwise this young man wouldn't have done that, he likely would have picked a different coach to clobber. but knowing jer' he'll turn this into a teaching moment. he'll let the student athletes at texas christian know that if your emotions get the best of you, swinging a helmet at an unsuspecting older person is not the best choice. there are alternative choices such as leaving a helmet on or shaking your teammates and opponents hand after a hard fought sporting event.

The video shows a different story. He was knocked over by his own player and Patterson decided to make up a story about it.

Not that I really care a whole lot about this drama but do we know if this 3 second video covers the entire thing? Is it possible the helmet contact happened after? Probably unlikely but you never know from a short video like this.

True, but if you’re going to essentially accuse a college kid of assault at an event with hundreds of cameras you might want to check to see if there is video of your own team being the one to contact you first. Because if there was video of the guy “hitting him with a helmet” I would imagine it will come out

Clearly a different story at this point. Wonder what Kill said to Patterson as a Helmet whack would be much different as to this falling. I would think Kill feels kind of sheepish at this point. Well, maybe not. Clearly not a tough Texan though.

Too late. Jerry has already been convicted of spreading lies and being a POS in this thread. What he actually said, or if he is the one who said anything, doesn’t appear to matter.
My statement is directly tied to Jerry being pursuant to being the victim.

Aw Shucks... Jerry's just trying to be a pal and help his ol' buddy out with coaching a football team. Coaching football...that's what he does.
Some players need to be coached a little. Some need a little more coaching. Some need to be coached a lot, and by golly, some guys, you just can't coach. It's just not gunna work. No matter what you try, some guys are going to have a helmet, and rather than protect their heads with it, they ain't bright enough to know how to use it and they'll be swing helmets all about.

You can't do it. You just can't do it.

AD over here... introduces me to these players, and I think, these are some good looking football players. They look at me like I ain't much of nothing, and I get that, I wasn't anyone's first choice. But if I'm being paid to coach someone, that's what I'm gunna do. I'm not gonna sit here and cash checks with guys swing helmets at people's heads.
That ain't gonna work and I'm not gunna have the time to deal with that.

I’m sure Patterson made it all up and kill wasn’t the one to originate the story lol

There is a reason why coaches say they need to see the video first before commenting on things in post game press conferences. It is to avoid looking stupid the way Patterson does right now. Kill being knocked over by his own team and Kill being hit by an SMU player with a helmet are two VERY different things. Patterson should have waited till he knew what actually happened before commenting on it.

Sounds like you have this one all figured out.
You know for sure Kill didn’t get hit by helmet, that he told Patterson he was hit by helmet, and that he claimed it was intentional? Do you have a link to any of this or do you just know?

Ego maniac wants to make it about himself

**not talking about kill here**

So that’s a no to any link and a yes that you don’t actually know anything about what did/didn’t happen nor who did/didn’t say something nor what they did/didn’t say.
** shocked **
**Shocked**

you’re right. Gary Patterson randomly started talking about this. Jerry kill is in no way connected to this Jerry kill story. My bad

the funniest part is that you just proved my point. You’re right, I don’t know what happened.
It is most likely nothing happened.

Yet somehow Jerry got a story out of it anyways.

I didn’t say Gary Patterson started it. I didn’t say Kill was in no way connected. I don’t know what anyone here did or didn’t say. Just like you - yet that hasn’t stopped you which is why you state stupid statements like this…
True, but if you’re going to essentially accuse a college kid of assault

You got me. Jerry kill didn’t make up a story.
Jerry kill doesn’t think he got hit my an SMU player.
Even if he did get hit it was probably an accident.

that’s probably why Patterson brought it up to the media. Because it was reported to him as an accident.

Jerry kill has very little ego. Somehow this story just came in around him even though he had nothing to do with anything.
Jerry kill would never start a petty fight about nothing. He wouldn’t lie. He wouldn’t be immature.

You got me

Jerry kill should apologize to SMU and quit….again…then he can complain about what a raw deal he got

Jerry with great concentration; hangs on to the clipboard all the way through the hit and tackle.

You are reaching now because you know you have been foolish. The above post demonstrates clearly that you have no clue and have based all sorts of things on your bias and dislike of Kill. Kill said something bad about PJ - get over it. LOL.

Patterson brought it up because it “happened” during a celebration - not because anyone said it was intentional. Maybe Jerry said something to him, maybe he didn’t. Maybe someone who witnessed Jerry going down said something? Maybe Gary saw it and thought that was what happened? Maybe it happened before or after the short video you have seen? Nah, you got this one figured out.

Your assurance that it never happened, Jerry knew it never happened, and that Jerry just made up a lie that someone intentionally hit him is based on the same thing as most of your posts - nothing.

Of all things that a MN FB fan has to worry about or write about right now what did or did not happen to a former coach should be very low on the list.
Unless, of course, some of you had a daddy complex with Kill.

says the guy posting in a thread about a what may or may not have happened to a former MN coach.

Nope not being foolish. I’ve admitted you’re right. Patterson heard it from someone other than Jerry. He brought it up angrily at the press conference because he thought it was an accident
