[POST GAME THREAD] Minnesota defeats Illinois 41 - 14

Good win... glad we didn't go into shutdown mode this week.

Good win... glad we didn't go into shutdown mode this week.
Well, when we tried to throw we threw a pick and when we tried to run we were successful. So fortunately, we did go into shutdown mode

Needed that one bad, now got to keep rolling.

D definitely played better. Now with IO. winning today we will know if this team can continue to improve next week. Mo is a beast.

Run defense looked much sharper. Pass rush was existent. Huge strides forward for a team that I think was much closer to success that it appeared the first two weeks.

We needed a good scrimmage. Something the defense can build on. Bigger targets ahead.

Main takeaways:

- Mo's vision and patience is elite. He sets up defenders then makes sharp, decisive cuts over and over again.
- The offensive line can move bodies around in the run game. They should run more four-WR sets with Mo in the back field and let the offensive line go to work vs a lighter box.
- While improved, the defensive run fits leave much to be desired. Every time one of the LB's make a play in space it feels like a miracle.

Glad to win. Would be amazing to see how different the perception would be if we’d have pulled it off ugly last week. Keep on winning and things are still in reach

Nice win. We need to strut our stuff at the next game though to show we belong.

Mo only second Gopher to have 2-200 yard games in a row. Name the other?

Loved the offensive mix all game. When Illinois stacked the box we threw when they dropped into coverage we ran. It is the formula we used last year and it was on full display today.

Hopefully a good confidence booster for the D. Illinois is a bad team but important for the young guys to have some success and make plays.

Mo is amazing. I was super excited to see what he could do this year but he has far exceeded expectations. The fumble was unfortunate but back to back 200 yard games with 4 TD is elite no matter how you slice it.

No clue but without looking it up I would go with one out of Darrell Thompson, Chris Darkins, or Laurence Maroney.....

Impressive effort especially by OL and Mo. Tanner to Bateman early set the tone as Illini focused on stopping Mo and his bodyguards. After that we owned the Illini D.

The D was solid And breakdowns was much improved. Bunin mostly looked like he belonged on the field and the LBs were improved. Our DL held their own and at times put on good pass rush.

Sure nice to see much better ST play. Were we at full strength?

Put things in perspective as Illini had a ton of players on the shelf and their QB was pretty much contained. I wasn’t confident that the D could do that based on first two games

Defense still sucks
Mo is money!! Mo money, Mo money!!

We'll lose next week.

If Mo's not the best RB in all of college football, he'll sure do till we figure out who the best one is.

What does Bulieve mean as to your name?
I Bulieve our defense blows! 😆
I Bulieve Mo is money!! 👍
And I also Bulieve we will lose next week because our defense can’t tackle 🤷🏻‍♂️

Much, much better on all fronts.

Time to prepare for Iowa.

Good win. Illinois is terrible.

There was absolutely zero reason for Mo or Tanner or Bateman to be on the field the 2nd half of the 4th quarter. Other guys need reps and it is obvious they are going to lean on Mo for the remainder of the season. We play Iowa in 6 days and his backup was already in a boot. Coaching malpractice IMO.

Agreed 100%.
