Minnesota (10-2) plays Auburn (9-3) on Wednesday from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. As Auburn was holding an open practice Sunday morning, Tigers coach Gus Malzahn was quoted as saying, “We’re not going to run a play right now because of the media out here.”
That’s when former Georgia Tech linebacker Jalen Johnson chimed in on Twitter.

"Commenting on a tweet from Auburn beat writer Josh Vitale, Johnson tweeted, “Thats smart because Minnesota got caught last year filming our practice bowl week.. lol but i aint gonna say anything else.”"

Oh come on everyone knows that's just B-roll for the million hype videos we make.

Speaking of...where is it? Video department must be on winter break.

I'll have to photoshop my avatar with a camera and tape around his neck if true

have to believe it fit was out it would’ve gotten out a lot sooner than a year later.
Interesting allegation though

Reevaluating my 247 subscription....

Why not report that Jalen Johnson’s mom thinks he is a smart, handsome, young man.

A lot of people just look at headlines and read tweets without clicking the link for context.....

I guess my main question would be how exactly we pulled it off if we did in fact tape their practice. Practices are closed and usually held at a local high school. The team has complete control over who is at the practice.

So unless Georgia Tech had fully open practices I really don't see how we could have pulled it off even if we wanted to.

At least he admitted in a follow up that it didn't have anything to do with the outcome.

I’d guess it was just based on locker room talk. After the beat down we gave them, some may have said things like, “The Gophers seem to know everything we were going to do. They must have our playbook. They had to have filmed our practice!” And this guy believes the the speculation.

Saw this at GTSwarm and did not think it warranted any thought here...

Reusse and Barriero will be all over this, as soon as someone points it out to them.

Iowa must have taped the Gophs practices this year too. They seemed to know every Gopher offensive and defensive call before it happened in the first half. Wisconsin too. Damn those guys! :)

I don't think that kind of "cheating" is uncommon. Maybe we did.

Honestly, if I had the opportunity to tape an opponent's practice legally (within the rules), why not? It probably wouldn't be worth a damn in comparison to game film, but what the heck. Give it a shot. Maybe catch a trick play or new formation.

The game of deciphering opponents signals, tendencies, etc. is as old as the sport. Instead of video, I've always wondered how much signal stealing there is on coach's headsets, via radio or telecom, during games.

CONFIRMED. Now bringing you footage of Gophers' coaches spying on G-Tech practice field:

The filmed the first quarter of the MN practice before getting caught.

It is much more likely that if Minnesota had been caught filming Georgia Tech's practices that it would have come out at the time, not a year later.

Correct. It’s also noteworthy that none of his teammates have backed him on this.

This is how baseless urban legends are formed. You can say something without impunity. It doesn't have to be true.

This is an example of what happens. Douchebag on Auburn board claims Gophers were caught filming GT’s practices, without supplying the link to that story, and the others buy it, hook, line, and sinker.
