FLECK HAS ACCEPTED THE GOPHERS JOB!! UPDATED: WE GOT FLECK!!!!

"row the boat" reminds me much more of Kill's "brick by brick," than anything Brewster ever did.

Can't agree...brick by brick has ties back to the glory days at the Brick house, so it resonated with those fans and was a great way to connect the past with what they were trying to do for the future.

Thinking "Motorboat" is out of the question...yes?

Brick by brick...get every player to carry their own brick to build the program up. Get on board, or get out!

RTB...everyone grab a paddle, and row together, or get out!

Just how I view it. It doesnt need to be over analyzed, but in no way do I see a Brewster comparison to RTB.

Hope he listened to Claeys and has at least a $5 million buyout.
I for one don't see much excitement building around this program for awhile. Kills resume impressed me and exited me a lot more than flicks

Seeing this played on the jumbotron as the team comes onto the field would be epic:

FLECK HAS ACCEPTED THE GOPHERS JOB!! (not confirmed yet)

Hardly. Coyle has been working on replacing Claeys for months now.

Winner, winner chicken dinner. Coyle was $hitting bricks ever game the gophers won. To the point were he had to reach back months to come up with a reason to fire him. Email or no email (or text) Claeys was gone.

Just like gopher fans will feel in a couple years.

Yes, by all means, let's hire a coach that nobody would ever want!!! Like we've done so many times in the past....and how's that working out???

I have zero memories of a Gopher coach leaving for "greener" pastures in my lifetime, I may buy a newspaper the next day as a memento if it does happen.

Agree.

He's loyal to Claeys right now and won't like PJ Fleck.

Probably true about Mad Max. The question is will this potential hire be enough to get Sid up and back to work? He needs something to motivate him at this time.

For the first time since the hiring of Kill I'm excited about Gopher football (if this hire is true). Claeys did absolutely nothing to generate excitement for me in terms of the team. To me his hiring came off as "we're in a pinch due to Kill's health and this is the best that we can do under the circumstances so we'll sign him."

Agree. Any coach who takes us to the Rose Bowl won't be going anywhere.

And frankly if he does so be it....he would still have taken us to the Rose Bowl....It really amazes me how many people are already getting worried about him leaving. If he wins and leaves that would suck on some levels but it would also mean he had a level of success here that made him an attractive candidate to other places which would still be a good thing for the program.

And as for the WMU players getting all bent out of shape....you are in the MAC....MAC coaches get poached by power 5 conferences all the time because those conferences can offer way more money then the MAC schools are able to. Sure it is disappointing to lose your coach but it is the reality of coaching these days, especially when you have a successful coach at the mid-major level.

You haven't been excited about Gopher football for more than 6 years?

SI reporting it now, which makes me feel very comfortable. KFAN is also reporting it, for whatever that's worth.

Two separate K-Zoo reporters reporting it as well, one even said PJ Fleck told them himself:

I'd love to go back to the hundreds and hundreds of people on Twitter who, over the last 48 hours, said "Fleck would NEVER come to that dumpster fire at Minnesota" and share this picture with them:

One thing this hire does is show that Minnesota *can* be viewed as a pretty nice job. Something I didn't think was possible given the goat rodeo of the past month.

Is that the message you would've gave to our players when Mason was flirting with OSU and LSU?

Everyone assumes I mean we'll feel betrayed because he won us the Rose Bowl and then left for Notre Dame. I'll feel betrayed when we're paying him Big Ten money and he's winning 7 to 9 games. Then I'll have to listen to the irrational Fleck lovers on Gopherhole tell everyone how his 9 win season was so much better than Mason/Kill/Claeys' because the cupboard was bare. We were supposedly a Rose Bowl team this year with anyone but Mitch, so this guy better elevate us in ways other than his better self-promoting media skills.

U r so right about that. I get tired of people saying "Minnesota is a stepping stone job. No one will ever stay there." Exactly how do they know? With the exception of Lou Holtz every coach since I was born in 1969 has been fired if I'm not mistaken. Only Holtz has left. If Fleck is successful, the only way he leaves is if the U won't pony up the $$$ in the next contract.
