A Look at Trey Edmonds’ Transfer to Gophers and His Impact on Basketball

Meet Trey Edmonds, a promising basketball talent from Denver. With a strong family connection to the sport, Trey has made his mark at George Washington High School and now at UTSA. Recently transferring to the Gophers, Trey brings potential and a determination to shine on the court. 

Who Is Trey Edmonds? 

He’s a psychology major, and his parents, Fred and Jaz, and his sister, Alexis, support him. With his family history of basketball and his talent on and off the court, he’ll leave a mark. Edmonds is already a key player and one of the main changing factors in many games and sports betting BC odds. 

Trey, whose real name is Freddie Lee Edmonds III, is a promising basketball talent. He was born on July 15th in Denver. He comes from a basketball family. His dad, Fred Edmonds III, who hailed from Chicago, played basketball for Colorado before playing professionally.

Edmonds went to George Washington High School, where he was a straight-A student, on the honor roll and won the Speech and Debate Championships as a senior. He averaged 10.5 points and 7.9 rebounds in his final season, leading his team to a combined Class 5A State Runner-Up finish simultaneously.

Trey, the returning team captain, is now with UTSA for his second season. In 2022-23, he played 20 games with 2.9 points and 2.3 rebound averages. He was named the most improved student-athlete on the team after his rookie season in 2021-22. He played one well-managed season with the spot in 20 games, during which he averaged 7.1 minutes.

Impact on the Game

Trey has been great to have within the program. He’s competent, as it’s apparent watching him play. Edmonds works incredibly hard, is very good at making plays on both ends of the court, and is focused on winning. Trey has already proven his capabilities in play.

Against Western Illinois, he managed to score 15 points. Against Lamar University, he also managed to grab 12 rebounds. He’s steady, playing for 35 minutes against Western Illinois and nailing seven free throws when competing against Tulane. 

What Should We Expect? 

The Gophers have seen several players leave this offseason, including Cam Christie, who initially considered the NBA Draft but decided on the transfer portal for better opportunities. Pharrel Payne and Elijah Hawkins have also departed despite previous plans to return. 

Edmonds’ commitment is a much-needed addition. He’s a quality player who could immediately impact the team’s confidence and will bring back Gophers’ fans. Edmonds is familiar with playing at “The Barn,” having faced the Gophers last season, which could help him adjust quickly.
