Ben Johnson and the Gophers continue to hit the Transfer Portal hard, and on Wednesday they received a commitment from a player who’s already put on a show at Williams Arena. Caleb Williams, who scored 41 points against the Gophers in an exhibition game in November, committed to Minnesota and will make the jump from D3 where he was at Macalester to the Big Ten and the Gophers.
GopherHole’s Nadine Babu caught up with Williams to learn more about his commitment.
“We sat down and had a meeting when I was on my visit and he was just really straight up, and that’s not something you see a lot when you’re in this recruiting process. And we both know what was returning to the Gophers squad this year, and we knew how hard it is to really compete at this level, especially for someone like me. And it wasn’t discouraging, but the fact that he was so honest with me, really down to earth, it was really something that would be a great personality to play for, and I just think he’s really putting the team in the best position to win.”
