NFL Gophers Week 2 Round-Up:
Benjamin St. Juste had the play of the week for former Gophers breaking up the game tying 2 point conversion attempt from Russel Wilson after the Broncos scored a Hail Mary with no time left on the clock. St. Juste finished the game with 5 tackles (1 solo).
Coming off of a huge game against the hometown Vikings, Antoine Winfield Jr. had 3 (2 solo) tackles and 2 passes defended in the Buccaneers second straight win of the season against the Bears. Through week 2, Winfield currently has 11 tackles (6 solo), 1 sack, 1 FF/FR, and 3 passes defended.
Jack Gibbens had 5 tackles (3 solo) in the Titans OT win against the Chargers. Through week 2, Gibbens currently has 12 tackles (8 solo) as a starting ILB so far this season.
Jordan Howden participated in his second straight game, but did not record any statistics in their win over the Panthers.
For the second straight week, Ko Kieft played, but did not record any stats in the Buccaneers win against the Bears.
Daniel Faalele participated on special teams, but did not start for the Ravens who won their second straight against the Bengals.
Rashod Bateman had 3 receptions (on 3 targets) for 18 yards in the Ravens win against the Bengals. Bateman has 6 catches this season for 53 yards.
John Michael Schmitz started at Center for the Giants, who finished with 439 offensive yards (312 passing/127 rushing) in the nail biter win against the Cardinals. JMS finished the game with a pass block win rate of 100%
The Gophers most recent All-Pro, Devondre Campbell finished with 14 (7 solo) in the Packers close loss to his former team, the Falcons. Campbell has 21 tackles (11 solo) so far this season.
Terell Smith appeared for the Bears for his second straight game, but did not record any statistics in their loss against the Bucs.
Eric Murray started for the second straight week for the Texans, and finished the game with 2 tackles (1 solo) before leaving to be evaluated with a concussion. Filling in for Jimmie Ward, Murray has 6 tackles (4 solo) in his two starts this season.
Carter Coughlin played for the second straight week for the Giants but recorded no statistics against his former teammate Nick Wallis.
Boye Mafe was inactive this week due to a knee injury. Mafe currently has 5 tackles (4 solo) so far this season.
Blake Cashman was active this week, but did not play due to his lingering hamstring injury. He is yet to appear in a game this season after being listed as a starting LB.
Nick Rallis and the Cardinals defense lost a nail-biter for the second straight week to the Giants.
