After receiving a scholarship offer from the University of Minnesota on his junior day visit, ’23 OL Reese Tripp immediately committed to the school Sunday night, become the first in-state player to do so in the class of 2023. Tripp plays his high school football for Kasson-Mantorville Senior High School in Kasson, Minnesota. Listed at 6-foot-7, 315 pounds his only other offers were from Iowa State, Temple, and Central Michigan before becoming the second 2023 player to join the Gophers ’23 recruiting class.
After an amazing visit today with @GopherFootball @Coach_Fleck and @Callybrian I’m grateful and blessed to receive a scholarship offer from @GopherFootball. I’d also like to take the opportunity to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career @GopherFootball pic.twitter.com/4bpaTJHmIu

Who is Reese Tripp?:
- Scouting Report:
Tripp is everything you want from a Big Ten offensive lineman. At 6-foot-7, 320+ pounds, he has the ideal size. His footwork and athleticism are tremendous for someone his size, and he consistently showcases his power in the run game. Like most offensive linemen his age, he has room to grow in pass protection, but with his athleticism I expect that to happen rather quickly. His size projects him as a tackle, but playing guard in high school proves that he has the versatility to move around, which is always a positive.

Instant Reaction:
It is always a positive to recruit well in your home state especially when you’re signing monster offensive linemen. After picking up his first offer from Temple on Nov. 12, Tripp has been a fast-rising prospect, and if he didn’t commit to the Gophers, I would’ve expected him to receive a lot more interest in his senior season. His team’s deep run into the state tournament showcased how talented of a player he is, and you can quickly tell when watching his tape. Tripp doesn’t currently hold a rating from 247sports, but I expect that to quickly change if he has another big senior season, and he is a great building block for the Gophers’ 2023 offensive line class.
What is next?:
Tripp joins 4-star WR Anthony Brown as the Gophers’ only two commitments for the 2023 class. I expect there to be a few more in the coming months, with a lot of junior day visits taking place within the last week and this is usually a big period for junior recruits. There is obviously a ways to go when it comes to filling out the 2023 class, but Brown and Tripp are a great start.
