GopherHole: It was a warm day for an offensive lineman to participate in a camp setting. Do you feel when you go to these types of camps and combines that you are able to pick up some skills that are hopefully going to make yourself a better player?

Connor Mayes: Yes, sir. Coach Limegrover is a great teacher and he just knows how to coach kids like me and my brother.

GopherHole: What schools are you hearing from right now?

Connor Mayes: The schools that have offered me. Minnesota, UConn, Colorado, Colorado State and Texas State.  .

GopherHole: What other schools are you hearing from besides those schools?

Connor Mayes: Michigan, Baylor and the schools that keep up with Alex.

GopherHole: What camps are you going to try to hit the rest of the summer?

Connor Mayes: We are going to try to make it to K (Kansas) State. We are going to try to make it OSU (Oklahoma State). We went to their camp, but it got rained out, so we want to go there and get some work in. I know that we are probably going to do a couple of more camps. Just don’t know when.

GopherHole: How did you first start hearing from Minnesota?

Connor Mayes: They got in touch with Alex and they heard about ‘baby brother.” They like what they saw when we came up for Alex’s visit and I got an offer.

GopherHole: What would it mean to play together in college?

Connor Mayes: It is a dream to play with Alex. Probably where he ends up going is where I am going to go.

GopherHole: Are most of the schools that are recruiting you and recruiting your brother and visa versa?

Connor Mayes: Yes, sir. We want to be a package deal.

GopherHole: That is a good thing for the school because they know that they are getting two talented players.

Connor Mayes: Yes, sir.

GopherHole: What things are you really working on to continue to improve yourself as a player?

Connor Mayes: Pass blocking and flexibility. Hand placement.

GopherHole: What do you see as your strengths as a football player?

Connor Mayes: I’m mean and I fire up hard.

GopherHole: What are the expectations for your high school team this upcoming season?

Connor Mayes: We are ranked 19th in 2A, so I think that we have a good chance at state.
