It’s a rare occurrence in both Minnesota and Wisconsin this weekend – the hottest ticket in town is not the Vikings/Packers game, but the Gophers/Badgers game at TCF Bank Stadium! Sales have been brisk at Minnesota’s Ticket King, and the demand is growing as the game approaches. The Gophers haven’t beat rival Badgers in the last nine games, but coming off four straight wins, and a bye week, this is Minnesota’s best chance in years.
The Gophers are already bowl eligible and are playing for better bowl position. They are also playing for something equally (if not more important) Paul Bunyan’s Axe! The Gophers have only hoisted the Axe twice in the past 16 seasons, but Minnesota fans will absolutely stay in their seats til the very end in the chance to see the Gophers rush across the field to grab the Axe.
The other developing factor for fans is the plunging temperature. As of today, the current forecast calls for a high of 15, and a third quarter temperature of five degrees. If the weather pattern comes to fruition, this will go down as the coldest game in TCF Bank Stadium history.
But as the game approaches and Gopher fans look to buy tickets for the big game, Gophers fans hope the Axe stays home!
