The Gophers’ 2024 recruiting class is starting to heat up. Clearwater Academy International (CAI) wide receiver Dallas Sims committed to the Maroon & Gold Saturday over top offers from Pittsburgh, Iowa State and Purdue. Listed at 6-foot-3 Sims has the physical profile and talent to have the highest potential of anyone in this class.
After a great unofficial visit at @GopherFootball I’m extremely excited to announce I’m 110% committed to the university of Minnesota!!! @Coach_Fleck @CoachMGSimon @CoachJesse18 @CoachMeyerCAI @RWrightRivals @Andrew_Ivins @ChadSimmons_ @RyanBurnsMN @JohnGarcia_Jr #SkiUMah #rrfam pic.twitter.com/vBKQGIFHUa

Who is Dallas Sims?:
Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Dallas Sims’ football career has blossomed in Clearwater, Florida. At Clearwater Academy International Sims recorded 24 catches for 429 yards and four touchdowns last season as a junior. CAI was one of the best programs in the state totaling a 9-1 record and a No. 11 ranking in the state according to Maxpreps.com. Much of his recruiting success came before the season when he was offered by Iowa State, Pitt and Indiana among others. After attending the Minnesota team camp last June, the Gophers finally offered Sims in February, and he committed two days after his official visit on March 23.
- Scouting Report:
Listed at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds Dallas Sims has elite physical traits for his position. He has shown tremendous skills after the catch throughout his high school tape. He has room to grow when it comes to expanding his route tree, but he has very intriguing potential. He continues to improve every year that he’s played football, making him a very exciting prospect.

Instant Reaction:
From the 2023 WR recruiting class led by Nuke Hayes, TJ McWilliams and Kenric Lanier, to the incoming transfer receivers Elijah Spencer and Corey Crooms; the Gophers continue to invest a lot of resources into their receiver room. The recent trend makes it fair to assume that PJ Fleck, Matt Simon and Greg Harbaugh Jr. could be adopting a more pass-happy attack next season. With the Tanner Morgan/Mo Ibrahim era officially over, Minnesota has loaded up weapons for Athan Kaliakmanis & Co. Dallas Sims is an incredibly intriguing prospect that had plenty of power conference programs after him. The Canadian native adds to an exciting future for the Gophers’ offense.
What is next?:
Dallas Sims joins Corey Smith as the second 2024 WR commit and seventh overall. 247sports does not currently have a ranking for Sims, but it would not shock me if he ends up being one of the highest-rated players in this Gophers’ class. There should continue to be plenty of noise on the 2024 recruiting front, but Sims is another fun prospect.
