While the Gophers were busy preparing for the Wolverines of Michigan, P.J. Fleck was still busy recruiting. Schuster being an Olympia, Washington native, proves that Fleck’s recruiting prowess is nationwide. The 6-foot-2 300-pound defensive tackle chose the Gophers over offers from top schools such as Michigan, Washington, and Stanford. His combination of great size and athleticism ranks him as the No. 39 defensive tackle in the 2021 class according to 247sports.
As a junior, Schuster was busy taking home awards. He was voted CascadiaPrep.com 2A player of the year, a TNT All-Area first-team defensive lineman, and a Seattle Times All-State defensive lineman. In his local area, he was voted 2A EVCO League MVP and Olympia All-Area player of the year. Schuster plays predominantly as a traditional four-technique defensive lineman. To put it bluntly, he consistently imposes his will on opposing offensive lineman with his overwhelming strength. His dominant junior season ended with 60 total tackles, 26 TFLs, and 9.5 sacks.
Jacob Schuster should fit right in as either the three or one technique defensive lineman in Joe Rossi’s scheme, something that they desperately needed against the Wolverines.

As the state of Washington has moved high school football to the spring Schuster is set to cap his prep career in the Polynesian All-American Bowl which is currently set to take place in January of 2021.
Minnesota’s 2021 defensive line recruiting class is now one of the best in the Big Ten conference. Schuster joins Shakopee native, Deven Eastern who is a 6-foot-6, 280-pound four-star prospect, as well as Austin Booker, a 6-foot-5, 230-pound high-upside edge rusher. Fleck’s ’21 class as a whole is now No. 24 in the country according to 247sports’ rankings.
