Useless Stuff You Should Know

For one season, the Eagles and Steelers combined to become the Steagles. It happened in 1943 and was done because both teams lost so many players to the war. The next year the Steelers and Chicago Cardinals combined to be Card-Pitt.

Here's a picture of the backside of Mt. Rushmore. I'll let you draw your own conclusions as to which president is being highlighted...

One of the best HBO Sports Documentaries I have seen was "When it Was a Game". It utilized home movies of MLB players & fans in color on 8mm & 16mm film going back to the 30s I believe. Included were interviews and voiceovers, really well done and nostalgic. There eventually were 2 sequels.

Anyway, one of the coolest things they captured was players chucking their gloves on the field, in between half innings. Just seemed so bizarre, but was a widely accepted practice. Same deal with having photographers just feet away from the batters box, while the ball was in play.

1995 - Devils swept the Red Wings. Rockets swept the Magic.
